Those of you who are regular readers of the blog have probably noticed that I’ve posted less over the past few weeks. The last few months have been SO busy for our family. We sold our townhouse in November then moved in with my in-laws while we waited to find the perfect house for our family. Finally, it came on the market and we closed on it last week. So excited to say that we are finally out of our cramped townhouse and into a bigger home for our growing family:
It looks pretty on the outside, right? Well, not so much on the inside. Let’s just say that the previous owners were not very clean and left a lot of mess behind for us. We knew that going into it, but it’s one of the things that enabled us to afford a bigger home. Every single room that has carpet needs new flooring. It’s not just a little spot here or there, there are stains EVERYWHERE and it really just isn’t sanitary. The kitchen is covered in dirt, grease, old food, and anything else you can think of. There is even old food stuck to the ceiling. (I wish I could say I was exaggerating or kidding, but I’m not.) Every single room needs a fresh coat of paint as well. We’ll be working on DIY projects for quite some time! That’s okay though, I love picking out paint colors, new furniture, decor, and then really watching a room come alive!
So, for now we are still living at my in-laws’ while we get some quotes on replacing the flooring. My husband and I are also heading over to our house in the evenings after the kids are in bed, when we can, to work on getting things cleaned, painted, etc. so that hopefully within the next few weeks we can move in.
I’m really excited to be able to show you our new home as it comes together and share some tips/tricks I learn along the way as we are fixing it up. It’s going to need a lot of work! I’m going to take time with each room (I will have to budget and go room by room) to make them really functional for us. Thankfully Walmart is just down the street, so I can pop in there easily for paint, decor, etc. I feel like I’m there a few times a week these days! I’m so excited to finally give the kids a playroom and also have an area set up for homeschooling.
Thanks again for being patient with me while we get settled in. More to come on the new house in the near future!
