We are HUGE fans of our local Great Wolf Lodge. The Minnesota location opened back in 2017 and ever since our very first visit at the beginning of 2018, we’ve been hooked. We’ve been back close to a dozen times, and we even did a big family reunion style stay where almost 25 of us enjoyed a 3 night, 4 day stay! Just one night of Halloween isn’t enough! All throughout October, Great Wolf Lodge locations are featuring spooky special treats, games, and Halloween activities to celebrate the season. So make sure to gather your whole pack—and their costumes (if you want)—and join them for Howl-O-Ween at Great Wolf Lodge.

What Does Howl-O-Ween Consist Of?

You probably already know that Great Wolf Lodge is packed with year-round fun for kids—but during Howl-O-Ween, they take the excitement to a whole new level! From spooky-themed activities to festive family fun, it’s all part of the magic—and the best part? It’s all included with your stay—no extra cost!

Throughout the day, you and your family can find a variety of fun around the lodge. Check out the Monster Bash Dance Party, Howl-O-Ween Crafts, Boo Bingo, Howl-O-Ween Trivia, and Ghoulish Games. During the month of October, everything has a Halloween flair for added fun!

But the excitement doesn’t stop there! Great Wolf Lodge ALSO has trick or treating each evening! Families can join the lodge staff on their ‘not-so-scary’ trick-or-treat trail, offering more treats than tricks. You can dress up if you’d like or wear your resort apparel for ease. Either way, you won’t want to miss a chance to see the staff, decor, and get those goodies!

The Waterpark Is Open DURING THE DAYTIME!

Personally, I’ve found it tough to find local waterparks that are open during the daytime once the school year starts. But thankfully, Great Wolf Lodge is always an option! As homeschoolers, we really appreciate being able to visit on weekdays and enjoy the smaller crowds. If you haven’t already, definitely check your local lodge for hours and availability. Honestly, a family trip to Great Wolf Lodge might even be worth a day off from school — just my personal opinion, of course!

We had so much FUN!

As always, our stay at Great Wolf Lodge couldn’t have been better. I was so excited to have ALL my kids in one place, under one roof, for at least part of our trip. Having two ‘big’ kids who have full time jobs and other commitments did complicate travel which meant we ended up with three different vehicles on site. This wouldn’t have mattered but the Minneapolis location DOES charge for parking. So take note and try to drive together if possible if your local lodge also has a parking fee!

We got to experience all the things during our stay. Not only do they have an amazing waterpark with a really cool lazy river and wave pool, they also have: surfing, family waterslide, tube slides, body slides, basketball pool, and a kids area.

Outside of the water park, we enjoyed rock climbing wall, mini bowling, ropes course, mining, Build-A-Bear, MagiQuest, and a HUGE arcade selection.

We also took part in a variety of lodge activities including: story time, crafts, and even a dance party. Ruby’s favorite was definitely craft time and the workers were all so sweet with her too. And after story time, we even got to experience a meet and greet with Violet!

We packed sandwiches, snacks, and drinks to help save a bit of money—but hey, it’s vacation. So of course we decided to splurge a little too. We treated the family to delicious pizza and cheesy breadsticks (seriously, THE BEST) from Howl Like A Wolf, and made more than one stop at the onsite ice cream shop. — My husband may or may not have indulged in a couple of Chocolate Volcano milkshakes—HA! Don’t worry, he shared… eventually.
