If you’re on the hunt for a crave-worthy snack recipe that kids and adults alike love, this is the one you want! Filled with classic cereal, chocolate, and cashews; this Valentine’s snack mix recipe has just enough salty and sweet to please everyone.

Valentine Snack Mix Recipe

This recipe works well to serve as a snack for any gathering or Valentine’s party but you can also offer it up as a dessert. Another fun way to share this treat is to bag it up in individualized portions, tie with a ribbon, attach a note of love, and give to friends, co-workers, and family members.

It’s truly the perfect treat! The best part is that is is SUPER simple to make and only takes a few minutes to whip up a batch. It also transports well and doesn’t require refrigeration. (You can even make this recipe ahead of time and freeze to maintain freshness, if needed.)

Ingredients

  • Rice Chex Mix (You can substitute the Corn Chex Mix if you prefer.)
  • Plain Cheerios
  • Cashews
  • Valentine colored M&Ms
  • White Chocolate Chips
  • Coconut Oil

Directions

  1. Combine the Rice Chex, Cheerios, Cashews, and M&Ms in a large mixing bowl and set snack mix aside.
  2. In a double boiler, melt the coconut oil and white chocolate chips. Once the chocolate is melted, let stand for 1 minute. Then pour slightly cooled chocolate over cereal snack mixture in bowl. (Don’t let cool too long or the chocolate will begin to harden.)
  3. Stir gently mixture with a rubber scraper, taking care to not crush the Cheerios or Chex Mix. Continue mixing until snack mix is entirely coated with chocolate.
  4. Pour snack mixture onto parchment paper and spread flat.
  5. Top snack mix with the desired amount of Valentine themed sprinkles of choice.
  6. Let mixture cool and set. This process usually takes about 60 minutes, depending on temperature and humidity of your home.
  7. Once the Valentine snack mix is set, gently break into bite size ‘chunks’.
  8. Store snack mix in a sealed container for up to 7 days at room temperature.
  9. Enjoy!

Notes

  • You can substitute Corn Chex in place of the Rice Chex if you'd like.
  • Honey Nut Cheerios can also replace the plain Cheerios for a slightly different flavor.
  • Other ingredients can be added such as pretzels, raisins, nuts, etc. Just note that you may need to melt some additional chocolate to compensate for additions.
