So many kids grow up and leave home without the skills needed to become successful, happy, healthy adults. But it doesn’t have to be that way. From little on, us parents can be incorporating little life lessons to help them succeed.
Teaching Life Skills To Kids
Something I’ve always included my kids in, from toddler stage on, was helping in the kitchen. When our kids leave the nest, I want them to know how to cook, bake, and follow recipes. For my oldest, this has become quite a passion! She has developed a love for baking and creates fun cakes, cupcakes, cookies, bars, and more. From time to time, family and friends have actually hired her to make them goodies! So not only has she found a fun passion, she’s been able to make a little pocket money too.

Get Busy In The Kitchen!
Cooking and baking are extremely important life skills that everyone should have since we all need to eat! So even if your child doesn’t turn this into anything big, learning how to cook and bake are still important. Start small by having your child make simple recipes the first few times. These small victories will help to build confidence and help them reach for bigger goals. Don’t forget, while teaching baking and cooking, you can also incorporate meal planning, basic nutrition, grocery lists, and budgeting! All life skills that help a person be successful!
How To Make Her Cakes POP!
So Hannah has been baking for years now and has been making cakes for family and friends for the past 1-2 years. While she was doing a great job, we really wanted something to help make them POP. A little something to help make them extra special. So a friend offered to create a cake pick topper for her and it brought her cake to another level! To create the topper, she used a Silhouette Cameo 4 machine! Don’t you think it’s perfect!?!
She was also able to create this gorgeous red and black pick for an upcoming Spider Man cake she was asked to make. This pictures don’t do it justice as the glitter background really pops!

This is a great list. It used to be that you learned most of these in school.

I was taught to check my car out each week. I could not change oil but I was taught every 3000 miles, just pay someone to do it. I still do and my boys check theirs out too.

I had two boys but I taught them like anyone would teach girls. They could do their laundry as well as I could before they moved out.
