There are times when I am reviewing an item that I have trouble knowing exactly what to say. This time however, I feel like I need to start out by saying THIS PRODUCT ROCKS!
Obviously as a review blogger, I review a lot of toys with my kids. I am not exaggerating when I say that this is the BEST toy we have ever gotten for my daughter. Let me give you the basic details for this play kitchen, and then I’ll tell you a little more about why we love it so much.
The Step2 Busy Bake Shop Kitchen was waiting on our porch one Saturday after we’d taken the kids to the park. My husband was nice enough to set it up immediately so my kids could start playing. It took him about 20 minutes to have it fully assembled, with all of the stickers attached. He even remarked that it was one of the easiest big toy items he has put together.
It comes with 42 baking accessories including a timer that “works,” a rolling pin, cookie cutters, play phone, oven mit, and 4 containers of play dough. The over door opens with plenty of room to put food inside to “bake.” There are knobs that turn and make cranking sounds, along with a timer that “dings” when it is done. There is a dry erase board with 4 magnets that can be used for a store list.
At first glace, you might see this kitchen and think that it is just like any play kitchen on the market. The big difference (and the great selling point for our family) is that it is deigned to be used with play dough. Sure, you can still use it without play dough like any other kitchen set, but the pieces included make it extremely fun for your little play dough enthusiast.
I thought it would be great to let Maggie herself tell you how she felt about this kitchen. She was NOT coached before I taped this and it is our first taping. Here’s what she thinks:
Sorry for the black bars on each side. Apparently I was holding my camera the wrong way. “I like it so much that I don’t give it away ever,” was just too cute for a retake.
My daughter loves this kitchen. I am not exaggerating when I say that she plays with it most days for a minimum of an hour. She has never played with any other toy this much-ever! If it were to break (which I highly doubt–it is made from thick, sturdy Step2 plastic) I would be running to the store to buy her another one. It is WELL worth the cost. I’ve truly never been so happy with a toy. My son, although young, enjoys playing with this toy too. He pretends to eat the cookies that his sister bakes for him.
