“Daddy’s truck, daddy’s truck,” that’s what I hear from my son Jacob every time we pass a Ford truck and he spots the emblem. It seems that he can spot it from a mile away, so naturally when I saw the new 2-in-1 Ford® F-150 SVT Raptor from Step2 while visiting their headquarters last month, I knew Jacob would want one. I was pretty excited when they sent one our way (at no cost) for review!

The truck arrived and I think Orin was just as excited about setting it up for Jacob as Jacob was to climb into it. Normally I have to ask him to assemble things for me, but the Raptor arrived while I was taking a (rare) nap, and he was starting to assemble when I awoke. With the two oldest children helping him, it took my husband about 30 minutes to have it fully assembled.

There are 2 ways of setting up this Ford: parent powered and child powered. In the parent powered mode, you’ll want to install the floor board (so your little one’s feet won’t drag) and the push handle. In this mode, your child will just sit back and enjoy the ride as you push him or her using the push handle. You can start using this truck around 18 months of age when using this mode, and it’s a fun way for your child to enjoy a walk through the neighborhood with you.

As your child grows and becomes more coordinated, you can remove the push handle and the floor board and let your child move the truck using her or her legs.  We are already proud owners of the Step2 Easy Turn Coupe which also features a removable floor board. Jacob is able to maneuver this car (we call it Wilson) very well, so we knew he wouldn’t have any trouble with his new Ford® F-150 SVT Raptor and set it up without the push handle or floor board.

Like all Step2 ride on toys, the Ford® F-150 SVT Raptor is loaded with cool features! You can’t have a vehicle without a steering wheel. This one turns and has a honking horn. Step2 took the time to make this truck feels like the real thing, even adding a front grill with working lights (you’ll need three “AA” batteries for this feature). The truck features rugged wheels which, thanks to the front caster wheel, can turn 360 degrees.  The truck has two working doors that have an easy slide latch. This is especially nice when taking your younger child for a walk so they won’t lean and fall out the door.

I saved my kids’ favorite feature for last: the truck bed! The whole point of having an awesome pickup truck is being able to haul big loads, and the Ford® F-150 SVT Raptor gives your child that ability! There are 2 built-in cup holders and plenty of room for hauling other things. I don’ t know about your kids, but mine always want to drag stuff with them wherever we go. Jacob has his “tassies” which are his lovie. He takes those things everywhere.  He’s also been filling the back of his Ford with his small cars, balls, and all kinds of other junk.

I’ve talked a lot about Jacob, but I have to say that Maggie loves this truck too.  She’s fast and can really buzz through our house in it! She and Jacob enjoy taking turns pushing each other through our home and, in the two weeks we’ve owned it, they’ve logged a lot of miles on it! This one gets 2 thumbs up from both kids and parents at our house for sure!

With the holidays just around the corner, don’t you think your little one would love one of these?!

I have to say that I love this. I love that it has a board for the bottom to block those little feet from dragging on the bottom. The trunk is pretty awesome as well.

Great review and video on youtube was very thorough as well. I really like that this allows parents to push the baby in it and then later they can petal on their own. The attention to detail is great too.

This such a great toy, my kids would love it! I love the little back park for storing things, and the handle is awesome! My kids would definitely feel special having this truck to drive around!
