Riding in a Booster Seat Just Got Way Cooler!

Getting kids excited about safety can sometimes feel like a challenge, but Graco has just made it a whole lot easier (and way cooler!). They’ve recently released two brand-new booster seats that are sure to get kids buckled up with a smile: a Barbie-themed booster seat and a Hot Wheels-themed booster seat!

Safety Meets Fun

As parents, we all want peace of mind knowing our children are safe in the car. Graco has long been a trusted name when it comes to reliable, top-quality car seats, and these new boosters are no exception. They meet all the same rigorous safety standards you’d expect from Graco, but with an extra layer of fun built right in.

Assembly

There is some assembly required with these booster seats but it’s really quite simple and easy. You’ll need to push both arm rests into place and then use the two screws provided to secure them.

There is also a belt positioning clip that you may need to attach as well. PLEASE read the instruction manual to see if you’ll need to use this. I personally like to go ahead and install them just so it’s there if we need it.

You can actually see in the photo below that my daughter did not need the belt positioning clip but my son does. She’s about 2 years older than her brother.

There is a handy spot under the booster seat to store the instruction manual. You should also be sure to mail in the registration card (or fill it out online) because Graco will inform you if there are any recalls down the road.

Barbie x Graco Turbobooster 2.0 Backless Booster Seat

For the little dreamers who love pink, sparkle, and everything fashion, the Barbie booster seat is perfect. It’s designed with bright colors and Barbie-inspired patterns that make riding in the car feel like an adventure for your girl.

Hot Wheels x Graco Turbobooster 2.0 Backless Booster Seat

For boys who live life in the fast lane, the Hot Wheels booster seat is just as exciting as it sounds. With bold colors, racing-inspired details, and the iconic Hot Wheels branding, this seat is bound to make boys feel like they’re buckling up for a race every time they get in the car.

Features of Both Booster Seats at a Glance

  • These Graco® booster seats can be used with your big kid from ages 4-10, from 40-100 pounds and up to 57 inches tall.
  • Graco ProtectPlus Engineered: a combination of the most rigorous crash tests that help to protect your child in frontal, rear, and rollover crashes; additional testing based on the New Car Assessment Program and for extreme car interior temperatures. Graco is serious about safety!
  • Hide-away cup holders keep drinks and snacks within reach. Being able to tuck them away also helps in cars with multiple car seats or boosters and limited space.
  • Machine-washable seat pad for easy cleanup.
  • Easy to Use: Lightweight, simple to move between cars, and built with convenience in mind.
  • Kid-Approved: By bringing beloved brands like Barbie and Hot Wheels into car seat design, kids actually want to ride in them.

The photo above shows the booster seats with the cupholders tucked away. The one below shows them with the cupholders extended.

You can see how much more seat room you will need if you use the cupholders. Our van actually has built-in cupholders under the seats, so thankfully we can save the extra room and use these booster seats with the cupholders pushed in. It’s nice that they have this option!

Making Safety Cool

For kids, growing up means milestones, like moving from a harnessed car seat to a booster is a big one. Graco’s new Barbie and Hot Wheels boosters turn that transition into something extra fun! It’s a win-win: kids get a seat that feels “cool,” and parents get peace of mind knowing their children are safe and comfortable.

Important Things to Remember When Using a Booster Seat

STOP using this child restraint and throw it away 10 years after the date of manufacture.
When forward-facing, children should use a car seat with a built-in harness system for as long as possible until they reach the maximum forward-facing weight or height for their car seat.

You guys, my seven-year-old is still in a car seat with a built-in harness. He still fits and it’s the safer choice. Don’t fall into the trap of moving your child up to a booster seat too soon!

One your child outgrows their 5-point harness car seat, children should ride in a belt-positioning booster seat. A booster is no longer needed once the vehicle seat belt fits properly, typically when they reach 4 feet 9 inches tall and are between ages 8-12. Both my 9 and 11 year old children are still riding in booster seats.

Be sure to check your local and state laws, as well as AAP and NHTSA recommendations, for car seat usage.
