RECARO Performance SPORT Combination Harness to Booster Review

I was sent a RECARO Performance SPORT Combination Harness to Booster car seat at no cost to facilitate this review. 

When RECARO offered to send their Performance SPORT combination harness to booster seat for me to review (at no cost) I was stoked! But not as much as my husband was – “RECARO… do you mean the same RECARO that makes those really nice race car seats?!” Go ahead dads, drool – my husband sure did.

When it came in the mail, I opened the box and lugged out this 25lb seat and was instantly won over by it’s quality and sturdiness. Just like the race car seats my husband was drooling over, this car seat is fancy, sleek, stylish, sturdy and totally drool worthy.

This is how the RECARO Performance SPORT Combination Harness to Booster came in the box, (minus the protective plastic bag) no assembly required! I have their  “Sapphire” color, which is a rich and happy blue. This seat is for my 3yo who has been totally obsessed with anything blue since he turned 2, so naturally he was a fan. It comes in a total of 11 colors, so you’ll be sure to find something that suits you.

Note in the picture above, the EasyAdjust no re-thread harness. That makes me so happy!! I’ve had to re-thread plenty of car seats again and again in only a few short months because, as any mother knows, a child at that age can grow like a weed. The tedious re-threading gets old fast! You simply pull the black, horizontal bar out and up to whatever height best fits your child. *The integrated harness straps must always be at or above your child’s shoulders when forward facing.* The first few times you do this, it will be stiff and you might need a little bit of counter weight on the seat to give you good leverage. After you’ve done that a few times it will become easier to move up and down with less effort.

Notice above, some of the details that are sure to make both parents and kids happy –  a little storage pocket for both the instruction manual and the LATCH system, for when they are not in use. Also, the shoulder straps are so plush and soft with the Cloud Comfort Memory Foam, they’re designed to stay in place, no slipping down or getting twisted around!

The RECARO Performance SPORT Combination Harness to Booster was designed to be user friendly, no worries about cursing up a storm while you’re trying to figure out what goes where and how. It was so fast and easy to switch the car seat from harness to booster mode and just as easy to securely install the car seat into my van with the LATCH system.

The Performance Series includes the RECARO Safety Stripe System, which is a racing-inspired white stripe that is clearly visible on the outside edge of the 5-point harness. This stripe is designed as an easy alert to parents that a twist could occur, or has begun, thus preventing a safety hazard.

Generally with baby gear items you’ll find that while you might love that particular product, there are just a few things here and there that you have to learn to live with or adjust to. For me, with this seat, that was not the case. My husband and I thoroughly loved it,  the safety, stability and ease of the RECARO Performance SPORT Combination Harness to Booster should win you over just as much as it has my family. It’s definitely one of the best car seats I’ve tried!
