My husband and I will be married 15 years this September. Some days I can hardly believe it’s been that long. Others, it feels like we’ve been together forever. I was just 18 when I met him and 20 when we married. So while some would say we were young, I wouldn’t change a thing about that timeline. BUT one thing I would change is how much time we take for couples-only dates and getaways. We haven’t taken a night away by ourselves in fourteen years! Every time we go somewhere, we always bring our children. So recently, in light of the fact that we felt the need to focus more on our marriage and being intentional. We planned a mini getaway to discover what the Mall of America and Radisson Blu has to offer for adults! We had such a great time on our mini getaway, visiting the Escape Game Mall of America and the Solimar Spa at the Mall of America, but having such a fabulous room at the Radisson Blu was definitely the highlight!

Hands Down, The Radisson Blu Mall of America Is Where It’s At!

We’ve stayed at a handful of hotels that surround the Mall of America over the past decade but, hands down, Radisson Blu Mall of America is where it’s at. To be frank, this is actually our third visit to Radisson Blu. However, the first sans kids. So we were really able to indulge in all that this delightful hotel has to offer.

Immediately upon entering Radisson Blu, guests notice that this is no ordinary hotel. Proving itself to be the best place to stay when visiting the Mall of America, you’ll quickly see why. The lobby is stunning and features a black and white color palette accented with deep blue hues.

There is even a giant set of stairs and escalators that really make a grand entrance into the hotel.

The interior design, including the distinct lighting features and contemporary glass paneling, came from the international designer and creative genius, Jim Hamilton of Graven Studios.

Even the distinct beehive-like relaxation pods that are suspended off the ground are unique, chic, and modern. The entire ambiance is a delightful compilation of special meaning.

Radisson Blu Mall of America On-Site Opportunities

There are so many reasons why Radisson Blu is the best place to stay when visiting the Mall of America. Not only is the Radisson Blu connected to the famous mall, which makes shopping and entertainment easy, the hotel itself has plenty to offer.

Spacious Accommodations

The Radisson Blu features 500 fashion inspired guestrooms and 26,300 square feet of meeting and event space, perfect for both business and leisure guests. We stayed in one of their Junior King Suites. Our room featured a king bed, sofa, armchair, coffee table, desk, closet, mini-refrigerator, espresso maker, and bathroom with a tub and shower.

The room is beautifully laid out and offers a spacious feeling. We loved that the television is off to the side, attached to the wall. When not on, we don’t even notice it!

On-Site Solimar Spa & Salon

The full-service Solimar Spa & Salon offers a variety of indulgent treatments. Enjoy a massage, body wrap, facial or book a service for your hair, nails or skin. On our last trip to Radisson Blu Mall of America, both my husband and I booked massages and they were wonderful. This trip, we once again visited the Spa so stay tuned for my upcoming review.

Firelake Grill House & Cocktail Bar

Right on site, the Radisson Blu features their popular Firelake Grill House & Cocktail Bar. Featuring the best of Minnesota’s culinary scene, their unique menu consists of local ingredients for a farm-to-table experience.

Offering breakfast, lunch, dinner, as well as small plates and late-night dining, the menu rotates based on seasonal ingredients. With one goal remaining at the core: they strive to give diners a true taste of what this region has to offer.

They also offer 24-hour room service so you can enjoy their traditional Heartland dishes or a treat, delivered right to your door.

Definitely a hopping place each evening, head over with friends to enjoy for appetizers, drinks, and a game of pool. Or you can enjoy a signature cocktail at the bar too.

Indoor Saline Pool

While there is no hot tub, Radisson Blu does feature a large Indoor Saline Pool. Refreshing and fun, swimming in this pool won’t dry out your skin the way a typical chlorine pool would.

Fitness Center

The state-of-the-art Fitness Center provides 24-hour access for hotel guests which is just one more reason Radisson Blu is the best place to stay when visiting the Mall of America. Utilize free weights, rowing machines and elliptical machines to work up that sweat and feel energized.

Shopping Program

Perfect for the unique location, Radisson Blu Mall of America offers a shopping program for guests looking for an elevated experience. Utilize a dedicated concierge, personal shopper, and even free bag pick-up from any location in Mall of America. While we didn’t do much shopping on this trip, I did take advantage of the bag pick up last time and it saved us so much time.

Business Class Lounge

The Business Class by Radisson is a service that provides guests with upgraded amenities. Guests who choose to book a Business Class Room will have exclusive access to The Lounge on the 13th floor.

It offers a complimentary breakfast and evening cocktails as well as bottled water and soda anytime. Concierge services and complimentary iPad use are also available among other amenities.

Relaxing and spacious, this is just one more feature that makes the Radisson Blu MOA the best place to stay when visiting the Mall of America.

Airport Shuttle

Flying in or out from Minneapolis–St. Paul International Airport (MSP)? Guests can hop on the hotel’s complimentary airport shuttle, which runs from 5:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m.

Security

Even though the Radisson Blu is attached directly to the Mall of America, the hotel is very secure. The restaurant, bar, and spa are open to the public but the elevators to the rooms require key cards. And the best part about these cards is there is no swiping. You just hold your card up to the reader. It allows you access to the pool, exercise room, and your hotel room floor. So there is no need to worry about anyone being on a floor they don’t belong. The elevator only allows you access to your floor and the amenities!

Final Thoughts About Why Radisson Blu Is The Best Place To Stay When Visiting The Mall Of America

Honestly, we just love this hotel. The overall feel and cleanliness of the building, inside and out, paired with the kindness of staff makes it our top choice. Add the fact that traveling between our hotel room and the Mall is quick and painless, and it’s a winner.

Mike and I ended up going back and forth between shopping, entertainment, and the hotel several times a day. Had we stayed at another nearby location, we would have ended up camping back in the room more as I know we wouldn’t have messed with the hassle of going back and forth. Because even with free shuttles, we’d still have to brave the Minneapolis weather (which was terrible during our stay). So the convenient location allowed us to easily go back and forth and enjoy every minute of our getaway.

We ended up walking all four floors during our stay as well as playing The Escape Game (TWICE!) Not to mention shopped, ate, and just had an all-around great time!
