As I prepare for the birth of my first child, I have heard several times that the only two things you absolutely need before baby arrives are a safe space for them to sleep and a car seat. Sure, that is the very simplistic way to look at it. But we all know a newborn requires a lot more stuff than that! Although, it is true that you cannot actually leave the hospital with your newborn unless you have a safe car seat. What about other car safety items?
How To Prepare Your Vehicle For Baby
Today I am reviewing car safety items from Dreambaby and sharing about how to prepare your vehicle for baby. Thanks to Dreambaby for offering me these products in exchange for my honest opinion and review.
Here are my top three car safety items to prepare your vehicle for baby. (Assuming, of course, that you already have a car seat that is safety installed.)
Adjustable Backseat Mirror
I imagine that every sound, coo, cry and wail coming from my newborn baby is going to make me worried. It is one thing when you are at home, safe and sound with the baby, and can clearly see them, playing away in their Kova baby bouncer. But this is a whole different story when you are driving alone with the baby in your vehicle. I can’t both safely drive and care for my newborn at the same time. Although I will need to pull over if the baby really needs me, the Dreambaby Adjustable Backseat Mirror will help me to determine when it is indeed necessary to pull over and when my baby is just making noises.
Whether they are happy sounds or sad sounds, this mirror will allow some piece of mind that no major crisis is going down in the back seat.
The Dreambaby Adjustable Backseat Mirror has a large wide-angle mirror that allows easy view of your baby in a rear-facing car seat. The Rotating Swivel Arm makes it easy to adjust the mirror for maximum visibility and the securing dial keeps it firmly in place. The Rotating Swivel Arm makes it easy to adjust the mirror for maximum visibility. With a large viewing sized mirror of 9.5 x 8 inches, you can clearly see all of the baby and his/her immediate surroundings. This mirror is suited for car seats with detachable headrests and is made of safe, shatterproof mirror material. Prepping your vehicle with the Dreambaby adjustable backseat mirror is a great way to prepare your vehicle for baby.
Adjustable Extra-Wide Car Shade
Believe it or not, the sun does occasionally shine in Minnesota. Although we have many snowy and icky days, we do get our fair share of sun. As adorable as little baby sunglasses are, they are not going to be practical for our July baby. Hence, the need for the Dreambaby Adjustable extra-wide car shade when you prepare your vehicle for baby.
These shades are designed to help protect children from the sun’s damaging rays and glare no matter how far or short the journey. The Car Window Shades fit on both stationary and wind down windows. These car shades are not only safe, but they look great too. They easily attach to windows with heavy-duty suction cups and roll up when not in use for convenient storage. This style unrolls to approximately 19.5 inches high x 20.75 inches wide (allow 22 inches for installation). They also include an optional clip to hook over the car window.
The adjustable length gives you the freedom to have them all the way up, down, or somewhere in between with the ability to lock into position. This particular size is made in an extra wide width for larger cars, trucks, and SUVs, but they also have standard car sizes as well as some with fun animal prints. I found that these fit perfectly on the back seat windows of my Grand Jeep Cherokee.
Baby on Board Sign
As soon as I found out I was pregnant, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a Baby On Board sign for my vehicle. I had to wait until we officially made the announcement. Then I got a sign on my Jeep the very same day. Unfortunately, it fell off and was lost the next time the trunk was opened. If you are like me, you will want to prepare your vehicle for baby from the minute you know the baby is indeed on board while riding around in the protection of your womb.
I won’t have to worry about losing my sign with the Dreambaby Baby On Board sign. Dreambaby offers signs with either a super strong suction cup adhesive or a peel and sticks adhesive option. This will help ensure that it stays in place and attached to your vehicle until you are ready to remove it. With fun options of the standard, bright yellow sign, a pink or blue stork option or fun-loving tiger design, you really can’t go wrong. The Dreambaby Baby on Board Sign is the perfect way to prepare your vehicle for baby. It also helps increase driver awareness to make it safer for you and your child(ren) on the road.
Now, this next item is just a fun little bonus item. We won’t technically need this right away when we prepare the vehicle for baby. But it will come in handy down the road (pun intended). Dreambaby Pouch Pal will let your baby/toddler enjoy food and discover learning how to eat it without worrying you about the mess.
It never fails that kids will always get hungry when in the car. No matter how far, or short, of a drive you have, use the Pouch Pal for on the go or at home to prevent squeezy messes. Its comfortable size is made for little hands and fits most food pouches. It is top rack dishwasher safe or can easily be cleaned using mild soap and rinsed well. This Pouch Pal is also BPA free and phthalate safe.
