Last night just as I was finally drifting off to sleep around 1:00am the baby woke up. No big deal, typically I nurse him and he’s right back to sleep. Well, not last night. Last night he decided he wanted to PAR- TAY! He would not go back to sleep and instead just wanted to talk and blow raspberries with his mouth. Of course, that left me rather tired this morning but it’s days like today when I’m extra thankful for the Optimum Nutrition products that I can easily pick up each week as part of my Walmart grocery pick-up order!
Have you heard of Optimum Nutrition? It’s a company I recently discovered. They offer delicious, nutritious protein-packed products and are the makers of the world’s best selling protein powder! They have a huge variety of protein-packed snacks and drinks that are delicious AND awesome for a busy mom like me!
Since I’m breastfeeding Aram, having something that’s wholesome and full of protein that I can grab and eat quickly is a must. With 4 other children to take care of, I’m constantly on the go. I found that, not only was I not drinking enough water, I wasn’t getting enough protein in my diet because I was mindlessly snacking on empty calories. Not anymore! I fill up a water bottle for myself each morning and then again after lunch so I make sure I’m drinking enough. And, I always keep Optimum Nutrition snacks on hand for a quick snack that I can eat with one hand.
But Does It Taste…You Know, Like Protein Products?
Okay, so here’s the thing. My husband has done the protein diets (like Keto) in the past and whenever I’ve tried his protein drinks or protein bars, I’ve never been a big fan of them. I feel like they always leave a weird aftertaste and just have an overall odd taste. But, I’d heard that Optimum Nutrition was different, that their snack products were better for someone like me with, ehm, a little bit of a sweet tooth.
I am here today to tell you that, if in the past, protein products were not something your taste buds appreciated, give Optimum Nutrition a try. I was SO pleasantly surprised the first time I tried one of their bars. I couldn’t believe how good it tasted! It didn’t taste like health food or diet food, it just tasted GOOD!
And, while some products I’ve liked more than others, I haven’t found one that I absolutely did not like yet!
Check out all of these great snack items from Optimum Nutrition!
Optimum Nutrition Crisp Bars: Available in a variety of flavors (like Peanut Butter Crunch and Salted Toffee Pretzel), these bars are similar to a rice crispy treat in texture but really pack a protein punch with 20 grams of protein in each bar! I’ve tried both of the flavors mentioned above and although my favorite is the Salted Toffee Pretzel bar, they were both really good! The crisp bars were the first Optimum Nutrition item I tried and I was hooked from that point on!
Optimum Nutrition Cake Bites: I couldn’t wait to try these since I’ve always been a huge fan of cake! While the consistency is definitely much denser than cake since this IS a protein supplement, they did not disappoint! The consistency closely resembles that of a cake pop or a candy bar without nuts. It was soft to bite into and somewhat chewy. The taste — the most important part — is great! Cake Bites are available in a number of great flavors, including Chocolate Frosted Donut, Red Velvet, Peanut Butter Chocolate, and more! Of the flavors I’ve tried so far, Chocolate Frosted Donut is my favorite. You’ve gotta give these a try! Now when I’m craving a sweet, I turn to these instead of candy bars and I’m full so much longer!
Optimum Nutrition Almond Bites: If you like chocolate covered nuts, then the Almond Bites are for you! Among the 3 products (Crisp Bars, Cake Bites, and Almond Bites) the Almond Bites are my least favorite. It’s not because they taste bad, I’ve just never been a huge fan of nut products in my candy or desserts unless it’s peanut butter. My husband likes these a lot and frequently snacks on them.
Optimum Nutrition products have been a great tool in helping me stick to healthier eating.
This time of the year, it’s easy to go crazy with all the foods of the season, but Optimum Nutrition snacks provide a great alternative without missing out on great tastes! If you’re on a high-protein diet, they can help you meet your daily health goals while meeting those daily cravings too! And, I just love that they are available at every day low prices at Walmart, since I’m already shopping there anyway. It’s nice not to have to drag 5 kids into additional stores to get what I need!
