Old World Christmas Ornaments for St. Nicholas Day

As I mentioned in my post about celebrating St. Nicholas Day, this year we got the kids all ornaments from Old World Christmas.

I like getting ornaments from Old World Christmas for 2 reasons:

1. The ornaments are of heirloom quality. That’s important to me because our hope is that by the time our children are ready to move into their own home, they will have at least 18 Christmas ornaments of their own to take with them.
2. I love Old World Christmas because they have a HUGE selection. It’s so easy to find an ornament that is perfect for each child.

My 3 oldest children know the truth about Santa/St. Nicholas so they were tasked with helping to choose ornaments for some of their siblings. Here’s a list of who gets what and the way behind it.

Maggie

I chose Maggie’s ornament and picked this sweet stack of books ornament because she loves to read. Books are the main thing on her Christmas wish-list this year

Jacob

Zellene was tasked with choosing an ornament for Jacob. She looked for a long time and debated between quite a few ornaments.

In the end, she chose this adorable cat ornament because it looks just like our cat, Mrs. Proudfoot, who happens to be Jacob’s favorite cat.

I had to include this second photo for Jacob’s ornament because while I was trying to take photos or the ornaments for this post, Mrs. Proudfoot came over and I was able to snap one really quick of her and the ornament together.

Zellene

Jacob got to pick out Zellene’s ornament and chose this cute hamster ornament for her. Zellene got her first hamster for Christmas this past year and just loves her so much!

Gideon

We call Gideon our own Willy Wonka. He loves to get melting chocolates to create his own candy and candy bars at home. So, naturally Jacob decided on this M&M vending machine ornament for Gideon.

Aram

Maggie got to choose Aram’s ornament this year and she chose this Ramen Noodles ornament for Aram. While that might seem like an odd choice, Aram loves this soup and often is asking for it at lunch.

Killian

Killian has been really into animals lately so Zellen chose this adorable hippopotamus ornament for Killian. I can already hear him on St. Nicholas Day saying its, “sooooo cuuuuute!”

Matthias

Matthias is all about cars lately. He loves any kind of car but especially loves watching fast cars. He really like the race cars on the Disney Pixar Cars movies so Maggie chose this race sports car ornament for him.
