This Obermeyer Winter Gear Review was first seen on Thrifty Nifty Mommy. I received product to facilitate this post but, as always, all opinions are my own.
The first official day of winter this year is December 21st. But it’s been looking a lot like winter for awhile now here in Minnesota. So much so, that I recently shared our Top 7 Fun Winter Sports and Activities for all ages. But when winter hits, it’s extremely important to have the appropriate gear to protect yourself too. As a parent, we work very hard to make sure our kids are fully outfitted correctly. In our home, though, I tend to forget about myself. Thankfully, Obermeyer stepped in and made sure both my husband and I would be suited up this winter.
Obermeyer Winter Gear Review
For over 75 years now, Obermeyer has worked hard to provide high performance outerwear to their customers. Pieces that emphasized “fit” to ensure the ultimate performance between design and function. They incorporate weatherproof technology, lightweight insulation, specialty fabrics, innovative styling, and individualized features to enhance any active lifestyle. And I couldn’t be happier with the Obermeyer Gear I’ve seen.
Women’s Liberta Jacket & Tempest Stretch Pant
After a nice warm summer, I get cold as soon as the temps drop into the 50s in the fall. So now that we’re in the single digits more often than not, I really need to bundle up. And I’m LOVING my new Obermeyer Liberta Jacket and Tempest Stretch Pant. Together, they’ve been proving to be a powerful combination for me!
This longer style jacket features over-sized top entry pockets as well as an integrated hood. Additional features include:
- 2-Way Full-Length Vislon Front Zipper
- Stylish Design
- Underarm Venting
- Fleece-Lined Collar
- Adjustable Interior Waist Drawcord
- HydroBlock Sport 100% Polyester Peached Plain Weave Fabric
- Thermore Classic Insulation – FE 80gm Body, 60gm Sleeve, 40gm Hood
- Interior Electronics Pocket & Stash Pockets
- Stretch Inner Cuffs
- Chin Guard
- Key Ring
- & So Much More!
And the Tempest Stretch Pant is also a great addition to keep me warm outdoors. Constructed with HydroBlock Pro 15,000mm waterproof/breathable technology, these snow pants offer uncompromising waterproof performance. And I love all the features these pants offer as well. That includes: control zone ventilation, zipper handwarmer pockets, cargo pockets, contoured high-back waistband, and more. These pants allow me to work hard and play hard without feeling constricted.
Men’s Scout Jacket & Force Pant
My husband received the Scout Jacket and Force Pant. This is a powerful combination that my husband has been loving through our cold, winter days.
Warm and waterproof-breathable, the Scout Jacket’s relaxed fit helps to provide plenty of room to move. Loaded with technical features to guard against outside elements. This coat has a detachable helmet-compatible hood and adjustable powder skirt. Additional features include:
- 2-Way, Front Zipper
- CZV – Control Zone Ventilation
- Mesh Gussets
- Skier Critical Seam Sealing
- Full-Motion Articulation
- 2-Way Adjustable/Removable Hood
- Adjustable Cuffs
- Detachable, Scratch-Free Goggle Cloth
- Zipper Chest Pockets
- Handwarmer pockets
- Interior Pockets
- Faux Leather Trim
- Accessory Ring
- Interior Windguard
- Fleece Lined Collar
- & More!
And pairing with his Scout Jacket is the Obermeyer Force Pant. They are lightly insulated to provide optimum warmth without the bulk, which men will appreciate. Engineered with reinforced inseams and pant hems, double-layer seat and knees and abrasion-resistant scuffguards, they can hold up to any activity.
My husband is really happy with how well his Obermeyer gear is performing. From cutting down our Christmas tree to sledding with the kids, he says he stays warm and protected the entire time he’s outdoors.
Final Thoughts-
We love Obermeyer gear. Every piece we’ve ever owned from them has been top of the line. For the pieces we received, everything seems to fit fairly true to size. (Although, I’d like to note that I sized up to a medium in my coat whereas my clothes tend to be smalls.) So if you’re in the market for some new winter gear, be sure to give Obermeyer a try this year!
Behind Obermeyer
Klaus Obermeyer founded Sport Obermeyer so he could make outdoor clothing that would allow people to have fun, enjoy moments of happiness, and share experiences with friends and family. Today, the company still focusses on his mission. Their intent is to develop products and customer services that make the complicated, easy; the uncomfortable, comfortable; the serious, light-hearted; the expensive, affordable; and the short-lived made to last.
So tell me, do you need to update or upgrade your winter gear? While I featured adult gear today, Obermeyer also has options for the entire family!

Hi Nancy, I'm wearing a size medium here. (I'm about 5'2" and in this picture, I was about 128#. However, I'm now about 118# and it still fits great.)
