I’ve partnered with Little Leaves Clothing Company for this post.
It’s finally here! Summer has arrived and I could not be happier. I love the heat and the sun. I think my kids love it too. Living in WV, it’s pretty cold here for about 5-6 months of the year, so when the warm weather finally rolls around they are excited to get outside. What I don’t love is sunburn. Really it’s probably the one and only drawback I can find about the summer months. I am very pale and therefore my children are too, especially my 2 middle children.
Our backyard is home to their prized swing set and sandbox. It’s nice and shaded during the morning hours but when the afternoon hits, it’s in full sun. It doesn’t take long for their little bodies to start getting burnt out there. I hate for them to miss out on fun outdoor playtime but I also don’t want them to suffer the pain and long term effects of a bad sunburn. I know far too many people who have been affected by skin cancer, many at a young age. I want to protect their skin and that’s where Little Leaves Clothing Company comes in to save the day!
Little Leaves Clothing Company was founded by parents and doctors, pediatrician Dr. Carley Gomez-Meade and dermatologist Dr. Carlos Gomez-Meade, who searched for fashionable and affordable clothing, only to discover that sun protective clothing was mostly just offered for swimwear. We get a lot more sunshine beyond the swimming pool, so they founded Little Leaves Clothing Company.
Little Leaves Clothing Company clothes are made from a bamboo fiber blend. Bamboo is an extremely soft fabric that is preferred for sensitive or eczema-prone skin. It is naturally hypoallergenic, absorbent (moisture wicking), odor resistant, antibacterial, and antifungal. It is ultra-light weight, making it perfect for everyday wear, and is more breathable than 100% cotton. The fabric is free of chemicals, offers ultraviolet protection (UPF) of 50+, and blocks 98% of the sun’s harmful ultraviolet rays, and they use all natural, non-irritating dyes. Toxin-free, environmentally friendly, fashionable, affordable, sun protective clothing!
Little Leaves Clothing Company sent a shirt for each of my older kids. They were so excited about their new shirts and couldn’t wait to wear them outside to play. Look how cute they look!
My kids have enjoyed wearing these shirts outside a few times now. They said they are soft and comfortable. They all liked the graphics on their shirts, especially Jacob who thought his shark was just the best ever! I love knowing their skin is protected when they head out the door!
