Playing games is a great way to pass the time, no matter what age you are. While our family goes in streaks between board games, card games, or outdoor games, we are happy to play almost anything. Now that we have kids that span over a wide age gap, being 2 to 12 years, there is always someone ready and willing to play at any hour of the day. So even though our game closet is fairly full, I just couldn’t pass up the chance to review three awesome games from Pressman Games! And be sure to read through as you’ll find an awesome giveaway at the bottom of my review!
Pass The Time With Games!
First up, we have Shark Bite. Geared for ages 4 and up, I’ve found that even younger kids are able to play with supervision and a little help. Our 2 (almost 3) year old Lucy doesn’t take kindly to being left in the dust by her siblings so she was right in there fishing too.
Two to four players take turns rolling the die and fishing for sea creatures. After each roll, the player has to use the included fishing rod and fish out either 1 or 2 creatures (based on the roll.) If nothing happens, the game continues. But if the shark jumps and closes his mouth, the round is over. The anticipation of waiting for the shark to move is almost unbearable for the kids and the excitement grows with each turn.
And with a snap, the round ends and players count up their catches. The player with the most sea creatures wins. It’s a fast paced game that can be played in as little as 5 minutes or add additional rounds to last for hours.
Oh, Mr. Bucket! What a thrill to see this game back on the shelf! A classic that kids love, this fun game features chasing and racing action. Mr. Bucket is on the move! He is constantly scurrying about and spitting out the balls while players quickly work to scoop them back in. Up to four players, ages 3 and up, grab a colored scoop. As the matching balls come shooting out, the goal is to get all three coordinating balls back in.
Not quite as easy as it sounds, Mr. Bucket keeps kids on their toes. There were squeals of laughter and delight constantly with this game as just when someone thought they were going to win, their ball came shooting back out.
And finally, there’s Catch the Fox. This game is great for kids ages 3 and up. Players take turns rolling the die and placing chickens in the fox’s pockets. At the end of each turn, the player must press down on the fox’s head. During a random press, the pants will disappear and send chickens scurrying in every direction! Players then race to collect the loose chickens and place them on their coop card. The first player to fill their coop, wins!
Easy enough for kids but competitive enough that even adults enjoy playing. I love that it’s simple enough for practically all ages but the best part is that the innovative mechanism used means no batteries!
