You might remember that last month I told you about Kid Things, a new service that brings you a personal shopper for all your kids needs, for FREE….and you do all your shopping via text messages! Today I wanted to give you an update on my personal shopping experience plus answer some FAQs I’ve been getting about Kid Things. But first, if you never read my initial post about Kid Things, click HERE and read that post first to get caught up on what I’m about to talk about!
So after you guys helped me make some decisions about my order, I placed it, and just a few days later the items arrived at my doorstep. You may have seen me on Facebook doing a live unboxing of my order. I ended up getting a pregnancy pillow and sleeper for my newly pregnant friend, and then for Gideon I got a pair of shoes, a sweater, plus 8 total outfits for him (many of them dressy outfits for church), all for just under $200! Check out my haul:
I couldn’t be more pleased with the items I received and, best of all, my whole order was done over texting, while I went about doing all the others things I need to do during my busy day (making lunch, rocking the baby, writing blog posts, etc.). The clothes are all adorable and just the style I love for my little guy.
I will, without a doubt, use the Kid Things service over and over again. As a busy mom who dreads taking all 4 of my kids into a store to go shopping, this service is a lifesaver!
I’ve gotta a few questions about Kid Things from friends, family, and blog followers, so I wanted to answer a few of the FAQs I’ve received.
What’s the Catch?
By and large, this is the #1 question I receive about Kid Things. Truly, there is no catch. You don’t pay Kid Things a thing except for the cost of the clothing you choose. And, the cost of the clothes is shared with you before you make any decisions. There are no upfront, non-refundable styling fees. You aren’t locked into a monthly subscription. You aren’t locked into anything! You can try the service for free, discover they don’t have any clothes that would work for you, and tell them no. That’s it. The end. No harm, no foul.
Are the Prices Inflated?
No, in fact, many of the clothes I received are Carter’s, one of my favorite brands. I shop for Carter’s clothes a lot, so I know how much their items normally cost. I found that the items I received cost what I’d be paying for them if I bought them at my local Carter’s store or while shopping at a store like Kohl’s or Ross.
So How are They Making Money Then? There HAS to be a Catch!
Really, there isn’t. Think about all the overhead a store like Kohl’s or Ross has. Now think of Kid Things as a virtual store. They don’t have the overhead costs like the big box stores have. So they DO make money, you still get great deals, plus you don’t have to do the work of the shopping. It’s that simple. There’s no catch.
What About Shipping?
It’s FREE! Free to ship to you and free to ship back, should you need to make a return.
Can They Work with my Budget?
I’m not wealthy. I wish I was, but that’s probably not going to happen. I also have 4 kids, so I’m very budget-conscience when it comes to shopping for my kids. They can work with you on any budget! Just be honest and upfront so they know what to look for.
Do They Have an App?
Not at this moment, but all you need to do is go to www.getkidthings.com and submit your phone number. Within a few minutes, one of their reps will be in contact with you via text message to start shopping for your needs and budget.
