Jord Watches – An Honest Review

I’ve mentioned before how much my husband, Orin, loves watches, so when I was offered the opportunity to review Jord watches, I couldn’t pass up it up! Today I’m sharing my honest review of Jord watches for those trying to decide whether to purchase one of their wooden watches.

For this review, I was sent the Men’s Harper Black Marquina Marble & Walnut Jord watch. My husband actually already owns another Jord watch, an Ebony & Ultramarine watch from the Sawyer series, a model which has been retired. Although I’m going to call attention to the new watch I just received, I’ll also discuss his feedback on the Jord watch he’s owned for over 2 years now. 

Harper Black Marquina Marble & Walnut Jord Watch Overview

The first thing I needed to do was to choose a watch. While I am not much of a watch wearer, my husband wears one nearly every day. The minute I saw the Harper Black Marquina Marble & Walnut Jord watch, I knew that was the one I wanted to get for him. 

He loves the sophisticated look of dark woods and leather, so I had a pretty good feeling that he would like the look of this watch. The Harper series is a collection of timepieces constructed from exotic materials in classic style. At the center of attention is a Spanish black marquina marble: wet polished to perfection. The stone is known for its vivid blacks and contrasting white veins. Buttressed in bronze tone brushed steel and accented with rich American walnut, the ultra-versatile Harper accentuates strength.

The Harper Black Marquina Marble & Walnut Jord watch comes with 2 bands – a brown leather band or a wooden band. This was one of the features I was most excited about because it would give him the opportunity to adjust the band easily and change things up when he wanted something different. 

What He Thought of the Harper Watch

Truth time – I was so excited about the new watch that I decided not to wait until Christmas to give it to him. He had a Christmas dinner for work a few nights ago so I gave it to him before we went. Giving my husband a new watch always makes me a little nervous because I’m always hoping he will love it, but I just never know for sure. 

I was pretty excited when he told me that yes, he loved the look of this watch. In fact, he said he liked it quite a bit better than the last Jord watch I had gotten for him. Yay! He loves the fact that he can change out the band and he really liked the look of the marble face. 

Why Jord

Jord watches (which are made for both men and women) are unique because they make their bands from wood. Jord watches come in many different types of wood. This particular watch is made from walnut.

Not only is this Jord watch made from wood, it also arrived in a stunning wood display/storage box, plus came with a polishing cloth and solution to keep the watch looking top-notch. Most watch backplates can be engraved and all cedar humidor boxes are engravable as well! You can also have the watch sized before it is sent to you. 

His Overall Review of the Jord Watches Brand

The first Jord watch I gave Orin had an issue where the wood actually cracked on the outside of the face just a few weeks after I gave it to him. The cracks are not super noticeable and it hasn’t affected the way the watch works, but I know it was a little disappointing to him because he tries very hard to take care of his watches. 

When he looked at the Harper watch he actually noted that the case was metal instead of wood – this meant it would not crack like the last watch which really excited him. It still features wood accents for a beautiful looking watch without the threat of a crack. 

As a huge watch guy, I asked him if he felt like they were worth their cost and he said YES. He’s loving his new Jord watch and it would make a great gift for a guy (or gal) on your shopping list too!
