Check Out My Detailed Review of the Joolz Hub² Compact Stroller

Have you heard of Joolz? I just discovered the brand myself recently. Joolz was founded in Amsterdam, Netherlands, as a premium brand dedicated to designing high-quality baby strollers.

Now it appears Joolz has made it’s way to the United States and I’m pleased to be able to bring you a review of their Hub² stroller today.

Assembly

You’re in luck if you hate assembly – there isn’t any with this stroller! You don’t even have to attached wheels. Just take it out of the box and remove the packaging materials and you are ready to stroll!

Lets Talk About the Straps

I’m putting this towards the top of my review because when I pulled it out of the box and opened up the stroller, THIS was the thing that I was most confused about.

This is how the straps look when you take the stroller out of the box. Please note that due to the lighting in my house the green color looks lighter than it is in real life. The Forest Green color is the shade you’d expect it to be with a name like that.

To me, the straps looked like they were installed incorrectly, even backwards. I searched online and couldn’t find any clear images of children in this seat showing the straps in use.

I called my husband in to take a look and tell me if I was crazy and not understanding things right.

After looking it over for a few minutes we determined that the black mesh portion is going to end up coming up over your child’s shoulders. You slide the whole padded section up before placing your child in the seat.

It’s hard to explain in writing, but you’ll figure it out – it’s not complicated once you know how it should look.

Here is a photo of my son in the seat with the straps on so you can see what I mean.

Overview & Design

The Joolz Hub² Compact Stroller with Carrycot is designed with urban life in mind—perfect for parents who need something sleek, nimble, and easy to store without sacrificing comfort for their baby.

Of course, that doesn’t mean you have to live in the city to appreciate this stroller! Our family lives in the country (although close enough to the city too), and I’ve loved this stroller too. We live in a single-family home but with 7 children, we struggle to have adequate storage for baby gear too.

Design & Portability

One of the standout features is its compact fold that enables the stroller to stand upright on its own, making it a great choice for small homes, apartments, or car trunks with limited space.

It’s also light enough to carry using the built-in shoulder strap, so getting it up stairs, onto public transport, or loaded into your trunk should be less of a workout than with a standard full-size stroller.

If you look closely you can see the carry strap. It’s black just like my shirt so harder to see – sorry!

Smooth Handling

The Hub² is remarkably easy to steer with just one hand, thanks to its responsive wheels and built-in suspension. It glides smoothly over sidewalks, store floors, and paved park paths.

Some strollers just stroller easier than others. I rank this one as one of the easiest to steer and push of any other strollers I have reviewed.

Living in the country, I always like to also take the short walk on our country roads down to the Potomac River when I’m trying out a new stroller. A portion of the way is paved and the other portion is gravel. This stroller handled both so well.

It may be designed with the city in mind, but in my opinion, it’s great for country living too!

Comfort for Baby

You can use this stroller from birth thanks to the flat recline option.

However, the carrycot is another great option for newborns. It is well-padded, ventilated, and even suitable for overnight sleeping if needed. See more about the carrycot (bassinet) in a section below.

As your baby grows, the reversible seat offers multiple recline positions, including a fully flat option for naps on the go.

Optional Carrycot (Bassinet) Attachment

Since we will have a new baby in just a few weeks, I got my Hub² with the optional carrycot.

Like the stroller, there was minimal assembly required. You just need to lift to bars into place to support the sidewalls of the carrycot and you’re ready to go.

Other bassinet mattresses I have tried in the past were quite flat. This one has a lot more cushioning. It feels great! The top unzips for easy access in and out.

The carrycot has a section at the front that can be unzipped to reveal a mesh lining to allow in more airflow. I really like this feature and haven’t seen it before in other stroller bassinets I’ve tried. It’s such a great idea though for babies who will be born in the warmer months.

Here you can see the mesh section at the front of the stroller. It closes with a zipper when not being used. You can also tuck the flaps into the sides of the stroller when it’s unzipped. (I did not do that for the photo.) This image also shows the extra panel on the canopy unzipped for maximum canopy coverage.

The canopy on the bassinet is already rather large but has a zippered section to make it even larger if desired.

Parent-Friendly Features

The quick-adjust harness makes buckling in a wiggly toddler much less frustrating, and the large under-seat basket (holding up to around 22 lbs) has plenty of room for a diaper bag, snacks, and shopping.

Check out the storage basket!

The stroller also feels sturdier than many lightweight travel models, giving you a bit more peace of mind about durability.

It also has an extendable handle which extends a lot farther out than other handles I have tried in the past. My husband appreciated this feature a lot.

Shown below I have photographed the stroller with the pushball not extended at all and then fully extended.

Durability & Warranty

Built with high-quality materials, the Hub² feels solid and ready for years of use. Joolz backs it with a generous 10-year transferable warranty when registered, making it a smart long-term investment for growing families.

  • A range of 8 seat positions, including a full flat recline which is suitable for newborns

  • Braking is super easy – you’ll only need one foot.
  • Lightweight (it’s less than 20 pounds)

Quick Rundown of the Cons at a Glance

  • Not budget-friendly
  • Can not add a second seat (although there is an optional attachment for a footboard for older kids who like to stand)

How It Compares to Other Strollers

You may remember that I recently reviewed the Mockingbird 2.0 Stroller. If I had to choose between the 2 strollers and only needed a stroller for one child, I would definitely choose the Hub². The Hub² has a more sophisticated look and feel and it’s an easier stroller to push.

Final Verdict

The Joolz Hub² Compact Stroller is an excellent choice for parents who want the convenience of a lightweight, urban-friendly stroller without sacrificing comfort or quality. It’s versatile enough to use from birth through toddlerhood and built to last, making it worth the investment.

It going to be best for families with only one child OR children who are at least 3 years apart in age since you can’t purchase a second seat to add on.

Hands down this is a NICE stroller. The materials used are of high-quality. It certainly looks and feels high end. In fact, even my husband remarked at how nice this stroller is (and he usually doesn’t care about strollers the way I do).

Because it’s a luxury stroller, it’s unfortunately going to be out of price-range for many families. But, if it’s a stroller you’re able to afford, you will not be disappointed!

However, if I needed a stroller that gave me the option to add a second seat, I’d have to go with the Mockingbird 2.0.

How Much and Where Do I Buy It?

You can purchase it as a package with the carrycot with an MSRP of $1048 or purchase the stroller by itself with a MSRP of $849. You can buy it directly from the Joolz website. You can also purchase this stroller on Amazon, sometimes on sale for less!

It’s available in three colors. The gorgeous forest green that I chose and also black or sandy taupe.

I like the fact that the stroller has one-hand steering and smooth suspension. That way if you have another child you can hold their hand too!

I like that this is so lightweight and that you can add the carrycot.
