This is a sponsored post about inspiring your kids, in collaboration with Disney Book Group. As always, all opinions are my own.
If you have children, you may know that inspiring them can be tricky business at times. However, once that spark is ignited, the possibilities are endless! Kids have such a passion for life. But if you’re wondering how to best go about inspiring your kids, keep reading.
Inspiring Your Kids
A big way that we’ve found inspiration, with both myself as well as our kids, is through books! Reading opens the door to worlds, ideas, and so much inspiration! And once you find something that your child finds fascinating, introducing them to real life experiences brings things to an even more tangible level.
‘Because’ By Mo Willems
‘Because’ by Mo Willems, is a must read! This book shows it’s sometimes the smallest moments that have the biggest impact.
Follow along as Mo Willems tells the tale of a young girl’s personal journey to center stage. This is a powerful symphony full of chance, discovery, persistence, and magic, all working together to bring a young girl full circle when, as a woman, her dreams come true.
Mo Willems is a number one New York Times best-selling author and illustrator who grew up writing and drawing comics. He has written and illustrated over 50 children’s books already! The illustrator behind ‘Because’ is Amber Ren who succeeds to bring Willems’ music to life, conducting a stunning picture-book debut.
Our ‘Because’ Moment
Because our oldest daughter would see Greta, an accomplished musician, playing violin in front of our local church each Sunday, she was inspired to explore music. So Mo Willems book ‘Because’ really struck a chord with her. Hannah was just 3 years old when she made the declaration that she was going to play violin. Her dream eventually came true as she would continually ask, for years, when she’d be able to finally play. Giving us the nudge we needed to know she was serious.
When She Was Young
So at the age of 4, we spoke to a local music teacher and got Hannah started with piano lessons, (as we had been told that it’s best to learn piano before moving on to another instrument.) And by the age of 9, her dream was recognized and she began violin. Now at almost 14, she is still taking lessons and playing her beloved instrument as well as continuing to work on advancing with piano.
Hannah has now played her violin in front of church as well as for concerts at a local nursing home for the residents. One year, she even joined a local children’s orchestra. And while it’s hard work and requires time dedicated to practicing every day, she is following her dream.
‘Because’ Moments Don’t Have To Be Musical
Now, just because Hannah’s ‘Because’ moment is also musical just like the book doesn’t mean yours has to be. Our oldest son’s ‘because’ moment correlates with horses. My own personal ‘because’ moment actually relates to being a mother as well as doing foster care. Our middle son’s ‘because’ moment is about baseball. So just know, inspiring your kids has no boundaries or limits!
The Story Of The Story Of ‘Because’
Because we all know there’s more to the story, watch this video to learn more about how ‘Because’ came to be:
‘Because’ Now Available
In stores now, ‘Because’ is geared for children ages 3-5. However, even our older children absolutely adored everything that “Because” stands for. Our children range in age from 4 to almost 14 and have been reading ‘Because’ over and over again. They all love the story and pictures.
