I received product to facilitate this hifold Booster Review. As always, all opinions are my own.
If you’re a parent, you probably already realize how many struggles carseats can give you. They can be hard to buckle. Hard to move. Heavy and bulky, not to mention overall cumbersome. I’ve had some seats that take up a lot of precious space in our vehicles. And not to mention, kids grow so I used to feel like I was constantly replacing with a new seat! The carseat struggle is real! But recently, I was introduced to the hifold Booster and I’m loving what I’ve seen and experienced so far.
The mifold Company
Perhaps you’ve heard of the mifold Booster? It was the first option available from the mifold Company. Released a couple years ago, it’s a grab-and-go booster seat that is the world’s most compact and portable booster. Geared for children from the age of 4 all the way up to 12, this booster was the answer many parents were looking for. And this seat quickly became extremely popular! Today, more than half a million mifold seats have been sold in nearly 160 countries! But what about those who are in the market for a high back booster?
Enter: The hifold Booster!
While I don’t mind putting older kids in a low-back booster, I really prefer to have the high-back when we first make the switch. So I was thrilled to hear the makers of mifold are at it again! They have now introduced their brand new hifold — the world’s most compact, portable, and adjustable highback booster ever invented. I love that there is now a solution for the necessary carseat nuisance as children get older, just choose the hifold by mifold.

Features Of The hifold Booster From mifold
When I’m looking at carseats, I want to get all the details and stats. So for the hifold Booster, here’s what you can expect along with compact safety for every adventure:
- Adjustable
- Safe
- Comfortable
- 243 Individual Settings That Meets Or exceeds NHITSA FMVSS 213
- Geared For Children Weighing 33-100 Pounds And Between 36”-59”
- Lightweight At Just Over 10#
- The hifold Is Regulated For Global Use!
The World’s Most Adjustable Booster Seat
The hifold Booster features the unique “MultiFit™” technology. This means that hifold is the only booster seat that can be adjusted separately in 4 areas including,
- Seat Width (3 settings)
- Body Width (3 settings)
- Head Width (3 settings)
- Height (9 settings)
This means that hifold not only grows with the child but also ensures optimal seatbelt fit and comfort, no matter the size or shape of the child.
The World’s Most Portable Booster Seat
The advanced “MultiFold™ “ system quickly folds down into a compact and convenient size, which makes it ideal for storage. I also love that the hifold comes with a convenient carry strap which ensures ease of portability whether for taking on vacation, moving from car to car, or for carpooling and taxis.
Designed With Safety In Mind
Don’t worry, the mifold hifold doesn’t slack in the safety department! Featuring 6 advanced impact-protection zones and a 4 layer design that is made to ensure optimum comfort and protection. The hifold uses advanced lightweight materials including a Polyproylene shell, EPE, a PU foam and fabric layer.
hifold Booster Review
You’ve already read about the features of the hifold. But I want to point out a few things again. First off, it’s truly lightweight. Even our 7 year old can carry easily.
With all the adjustability, you may be thinking it sounds confusing. But the mifold company designed all adjustable parts to feature a light green color, making it an easy indicator! So you know where to push, pull, and slide with a quick glance.
My kids like how they have more space in the back row when we use the hifold versus some of the typical style boosters. Those back rows can be pretty tight in smaller SUVs and every inch counts!
So from our experience, I think the mifold would be a great booster for families who love to travel and don’t want bulky seats. (I personally don’t trust rental company carseats so this would be a great space-saving option, especially for when not in use.)
***Special Note: The hifold Booster is not suited for use on an aircraft as it requires the use of both a lap and a shoulder belt seatbelt system. Airplanes only have a lap belt.
A Little Background On The mifold Company
A father of four, Jon Sumroy, creator of mifold, was bothered by the fact that kids weren’t being adequately protected when carpooling as a car seat was not always readily available. To fix the problem, he invented mifold — a booster seat that is 10x smaller than the regular car booster seat, but just as safe.
The mifold seat has an ultra-portable design (it’s only 10”x 10” when folded — small enough to fit in a backpack) raised over $2.6 million after launching on Indiegogo in 2015, making it the most successful campaign ever, for a juvenile product.
Three years later, Sumroy and the mifold team have created another innovative product to further complete their vision of a child restraint for every child, in every car, on every journey, every time. And that’s why I’m here today telling you about the new hifold by mifold!

Thank you for your review! Would you recommend the Hifold for long car rides at all? We'll be taking a multi-week road trip this summer with 12 to 15 hour stretches at times, and then possibly switching car seats out when rotating cars with in-laws. This seems like a great option but I want to make sure it would be comfortable too. I was thinking of this for our very tall, long-legged, almost 7-year old girl who is also definitely a car sleeper. I look forward to your thoughts!

Hi Nina,
We haven't gone on any road trips for a couple years but I feel like the Hifold would probably be fine because the wings by the head should help support her. However, that's just my personal opinion. This seat isn't as 'plush' as some others so it really depends on what you're all looking for.

How soon can you use it? My daughter is 17 months old, 32+ inches, 25 lbs, we got the nuna rava for our cars, but we’re flying to NYC in a few weeks and trying to figure out options for not taking the rava. Our nuna pipa was light and easy for air travel, but the rava will not be. While car seats aren’t required in NYC, we’d still like to have one!

Hello Hina,
The hifold Booster is geared for children weighing 33-100 lbs AND 36”-59”. Plus, you need to take into consideration maturity level on if they will be able to sit properly in a booster. At this point, it looks like your daughter is a little too small for this particular seat.

Anything that you DON'T like about it??

No one thing sticks out as something I necessarily don't like. All of my kids are kind of built the same. So we don't personally need SO many custom options for adjusting. However, some families may. I wish there would be a way to have the hifold morph into the mifold (so it could be both a high back booster and no back booster). That would be the main thing I'd like to see changed.

This is an informative review. I like that the hifold booster is compact and collapsible. It certainly seems user friendly.

This sounds like the perfect booster seat! My son has a convertible seat but when I try to use the seatbelt with it I don't like the way it fits him (a little to close to his neck). However, using the harness is way too tight as he is a big boy for his age. I really want this seat now! I also LOVE that it is so portable. Thank you so much for sharing!
