The Hauck Heart 2 Heart Baby Doll Set is comprised of actually 3 sets that are purchased individually. The first is a playard/crib/changing station, the second is a travel system, and the third is a swing/high chair.
Each part will need to be assembled upon arrival. The swing/high chair was really easy and quick, and the stroller was also a fast set-up. You’ll need the most time for the bed, which still only took about 10 minutes to assemble as it is pretty straight-forward and easy to do. Start to finish (even with the help of the kids), everything was ready to go in under 15 minutes.
Let’s start by talking about the high chair/swing. It is so easy to change between the 2 features. If you would like to use it as a high chair, you just click the seat into place on the top bars. When you are ready to make it a swing, you’ll take the chair off by pushing in on the heart buttons located on the side of the seat, and lift up. Then, you’ll put the swing bar in it’s place. There is a purple hook located on this bar that you attach the seat, just make sure you attach it from the back end for the best swinging experience. My 3 year old daughter has no problems changing from one to the other.
The Heart 2 Heart bed doubles as a changing station or napper for the baby. They did a great job making this look like the playards that my daughter is used to seeing me use. When we put this together, I did not put the tray on the seat piece, since it would be used primary for napping and diaper changes. If you purchase all 3 sets, you will end up with 3 seats, and I’d recommend not attaching the tray for 1 of those sets, for this purpose. If you do attach it however, it is also easy to take off when desired. The mobile and the changing station are both detachable, again by just clicking on the heart buttons. I wish that the mobile was attached a little bit more securely (the part that spins, not the arm) because it does fall off occasionally, but this does not seem to bother my daughter at all. It is not battery powered so you will need to spin it by hand.
The last piece of this set is the travel system consisting of a car seat and stroller. The tray insert allow you to attach the car seat when desired but you can also use it without. There is a basket at the back that is perfect for kids to pack their diaper bags, and the pushbar is the perfect height for little ones. The shade is retractable, just like with a real stroller, but my daughter is not quite strong enough to do it on her own yet, so I help with that.
I am a little disappointed in the design of the tray. It is attached to the stroller with pieces of plastic that are a little too thin for the beating that children put toys through. I wouldn’t consider my children to be very rough on toys, but after about 4 weeks of playing, we had to contact Hauck for a new tray attachment. They DID send one out free of charge, which was great! My husband says a little bit of JB Weld will fix the problem. I also may just try to zip-tie the new tray into place. Other than that small issue, the travel system has been great. It is actually my son’s favorite piece of the set. He likes to put the babies into the car seat and push them all over our house.
Overall, this is a set that both of my children have really enjoyed. My daughter right now is more into her stuffed lamb, “Lambie” than playing with baby dolls. Lambie goes everywhere we go. She uses the car seat to let Lambie travel with us, and she keeps the bed right next to her bed for Lambie to sleep in at night. My son on the other hand is really into baby dolls right now, and as I mentioned above, he really enjoys pushing the baby dolls through the house in the stroller.
