I received the Graco 4Ever Extend2fit 4-in-1 Convertible Car Seat to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.
Starting at the age of 13, I had a family who I babysat every weekend. The parents would drop the kids at my house Friday after I got home from school, 2-week old included, and they were my charge till Sunday night. But even with all those years of babysitting under my belt, I never learned about car seat safety. Looking back to when my husband and I had our first child, I shudder to think about the mistakes we made. We didn’t know not to put baby in a coat. Two finger pinch rule, say what?! And the day Hannah turned 1, we celebrated by facing her forward. Thankfully, knowledge is power. There is so much information readily available to parents these days on the dangers and safety of car seats. And today, I’m happy to partner with Graco to share one of their amazing seats with you.
One Seat, 10 Years
Did you know that it is possible to purchase just ONE car seat for your child? The Graco 4Ever Extend2Fit 4-In-1 Convertible Car Seat offers four modes of use that lets you bring your baby home from the hospital all the way to car seat graduation! For infants through toddlerhood, a rear-facing infant car seat function is best (4–50 lb). Then, it becomes a forward-facing, 5-point harness toddler car seat (22–65 lb). Next up, use as a high-back belt-positioning booster (40–100 lb). And finally, before car seat graduation, it can become a backless belt-positioning booster (40–120 lb). This seat has some really awesome features and I want to touch on a few of my favorites for you.
Rear-Facing Is Safest!
As I mentioned, it was not common knowledge that rear-facing is best twelve years ago. Once we learned about that with baby #3, we were much more diligent. As a matter of fact, our 4th child stayed rear-facing until he was 4. Our youngest is turning 3 mid-September here and she is still rear-facing and will continue to be as long as possible. I love that Graco manufactures seats that allows parents to practice extended rear-facing with their children.
But What About The Legs?
For those wondering about legs, none of our extended rear-facing kids has had any issues. They either stretch them up or sit criss-cross applesauce. (As a matter of fact, when we turned our son around at the age of 4, he didn’t like it! Logistics just didn’t give us any other options at the time.) However, if you are still concerned, Graco’s Extend2Fit feature does is a 4-position extension panel that provides up to an 5 inches of additional leg room!
Let’s Talk Adjusting
As a mother to five and foster mom currently to two, I learned real quick that a no re-thread harness is the way to go. Kids grow SO fast. The last thing I want to be doing is unbuckling the seat to raise the straps with each growth spurt. This Graco 4Ever Extend2Fit 4-In-1 Convertible Car Seat offers a 10-position headrest that allows parents to adjust both the harness and headrest simultaneously, from the FRONT of the seat! Easy peasy!
5 Point Harness
Being able to use a 5-point harness up to 65# makes this seat a great choice! We always keep our kids harnessed until they max out the weight or height requirement on their seats so a high limit earns big bonus points for us.
Integrated Cup Holders
While I never used to think this feature was that important, it turns out I was wrong. We’ve owned seats where the cup holders dangle off the sides and get in the way. This Graco 4ever extend2fit 4-in-1 Convertible Car Seat has them inserted right onto the front of the seat! This means that they are never in the way and don’t take up any extra space. Plus, they are perfect for holding sippy cups, bottles, toys, and, my children’s favorite, ROCKS! (Why are my kids obsessed with rocks??? They are constantly bringing those things into my house!)
Newborns And Young Infants
If you’re contemplating skipping the infant bucket seat completely, this seat is a great choice. Since it’s approved from 4lbs and up, even preemies can use it! The (removable) padding supports work well for the smallest of babies and offer a super supportive and comfy seat.
6 Position Recline
Along with the different needs of growing children are the different reclines for each age and stage. This seat features six recline options to keep your child comfortable and safe.
Side Impact Tested & Level Indicator
To help make sure your child is as safe as possible, the Graco 4ever extend2fit 4-in-1 Convertible Car Seat has been side impact tested and also features an easy-to-read level indicator to ensure the correct position of the seat.
I’ve tested this seat with children from 5 weeks all the way through 7 years old and am really impressed. I am able to adjust the seat so that each one can be comfortable and safe. I love that even our 7 year old could still be 5-point harnessed in it! It truly can last a child through their lifetime of car seat use. I’d highly recommend.
