How We Got Our Cat to Stop Her Frequent Vomiting

a woman holding a black cat in her arms.

We’ve had our cat, Abby, since before we even had children. We found her dumped at a local park when she was just a few weeks old. She was so young I needed to bottle feed her for a little while.

All of a sudden about 2 years ago, Abby started vomiting, and frequently. And, I don’t just mean hairballs. Yes, there were hairballs, but other times there was also just regurgitated cat food.

It seemed like as time went on she was throwing up more and more frequently. I was at my wit’s end to make it stop. I changed her cat food, again and again, but it didn’t seem to change things.

FINALLY, I was able to solve the problem.

We Switched Our Cat’s Diet to Totally Wet Food

How did we get Abby to stop vomiting in the house? We put her on a totally wet food diet. No more hard, dry cat food for her. It was that simple. I wish I would have known sooner that this would solve her problem. It was such an easy fix!

Now that we solved her problem, we’ve been looking into different wet foods for Abby. What are your favorite wet food brands?

Now that Abby doesn’t have a bowl of dry food available to her all day long, I find that she comes to me more frequently throughout the day asking for food.

If you’re going to follow this plan, just make sure you are prepared to give your cat at least 2 meals a day. Abby likes it if we can give her three small meals a day, ideally.

My vet has also recommended this for my cat to help with weight control and urinary infections. We are just starting but he is a picky eater so we will have to see how it works.

I was super excited to read this at first... until I saw your solution. We have a cat that has this problem, but this cat REFUSES wet food. Always has. She also refuses cat treats. Weird cat, I know. Glad to hear you found a solution for your cat, though. :)

Oh no. :( That's a bummer! Have you tried lots of different brands?
