This post is sponsored by Pilot Flying J, but all opinions are my own.
They say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, and for our busy family, it’s a meal we can’t skip. I’ve got 4 growing kids who seem to want to eat constantly and two parents who need the fuel from breakfast to keep up with them!
I have to admit, I’m not a morning person, at all. You’ll frequently find me working on blog posts late into the night, but seldom do I wake up with the sun to get to work. My hatred for mornings, however, results in a mad dash out the door some mornings and far too often I don’t get breakfast at home because I’m too busy trying to make sure Jacob put on underwear and Maggie brushed her hair. That’s why I’m so thankful that Pilot Flying J has fresh breakfast options available that I can grab quickly when I’m on the go.
This week our mad dash out of the house was for a trip to the grocery store. I was trying to get our shopping done before nap time – moms, I’m sure you can relate! We were out of both waffles and cereal, so I decided a quick, fresh breakfast at Pilot Flying J was in order before we went into the grocery store.
The breakfast selection at Pilot Flying J is amazing! They truly have something for every taste bud. Anyone else need a little caffeine to get going in the morning? They also have a huge assortment of beverages, including many flavors and types of coffees, teas, energy drinks, and juices for the little ones. Pilot and Flying J Travel Centers source coffee from around the world, then bring them back to the US to be roasted in Portland, Oregon. They carry up to 7 different blends of coffee at one time (including seasonal blends like pumpkin), as well as a wide selection of creamers, toppings, syrups, and take-home coffee options.
Recently Pilot Flying J introduced PJ Fresh breakfast sandwiches, a new line-up of breakfast sandwiches featuring hearty, artisan ingredients. Since I usually have my hands full whether we sit down to eat or I’m driving while I eat, I really appreciate that you don’t need a knife and fork to enjoy these sandwiches, but yet they will fill you up like a full meal. While my kids still enjoy things like donuts for breakfast, I’m at the point in life where I really need something wholesome at breakfast time and these sandwiches are just perfect!
On this occasion, my husband and I decided to try the Canadian Style Bacon, Egg & Cheese Muffin along with the Sausage, Egg & Cheese Tornado. It was so delicious and filling! (As a side note, our breakfast choice resulted in a discussion about what makes Canadian style bacon different. In case you’re wondering, Canadian bacon is more like ham compared to the strips of bacon we are accustomed to. American bacon comes from the fatty belly of the pig while Canadian bacon is typically cut from the loin.)
The PJ Fresh breakfast sandwich line-up includes five “Premium” and four “Classic Recipe” varieties, that start at $2.99 or 2 for $5.50. All nine PJ Fresh breakfast sandwiches are now available at 270 Pilot Travel Centers and Flying J Travel Plazas across North America, and an additional 268 locations will also have a limited menu available. For a list of locations that carry the new PJ Fresh breakfast sandwiches, you can visit www.pilotflyingj.com or download the Pilot Flying J app.
The next time you rush out the door and miss your breakfast, don’t let yourself go hungry. Just make a quick stop at your local Pilot Flying J and fuel your vehicle and your body!
