Get Out There With Disc-O-Bed!

You can tell from the picture above just who loves the outdoors more. I’ve always had a love of nature and adventure. My husband, on the other hand, has learned to love it the longer he’s been married to me. It’s not so much that Ben doesn’t like being outside, he loves that side of the deal, it’s leaving all of the creature comforts of home that he’s not so fond of. Lucky for him, I’ve been able to find ways to make roughing it a little more enjoyable. One product that has made camping feel a lot more like home is the Disc-O-Bed!

UnBoxing The Disc-O-Bed

One thing to keep in mind when using the Disc-O-Bed and considering where to use it is it’s weight. At 60 pounds together, this bunk bed is not one you are going to be throwing on your back and using on your next week-long hiking expedition. It is, however, the perfect choice when you are ready to load up yourself, the family, and or some friends for your next camping adventure. Go off for the day to get in some fishing, kayaking, hiking, or whatever Mother Nature can throw at you and come back “home” to your base camp where you can have a dry, off-the-ground place to put your feet up.

Here’s what comes with the Disc-O-Bed (Large):

• 2 Cots
• 2 Side Organizers
• 2 Carry Bags
• Set of Stack Adapters (2 in each bag)
• 2 Locking Straps (1 in each bag)

I love how everything (and I do mean everything) needed to set up and utilize the Disc-O-Bed fits into each carrying case. This makes if very transportable, easy to pack up, and perfect for storing.

Setting Up The Disc-O-Bed

When setting up the Disc-O-Bed you are essentially putting together two cots which you then easily turn into a bunk bed in one additional step. Ben and I threaded both sets of poles through the end of the cots and secured them with a “wheel” on both ends. The wheels sit snuggly right into the ends of the frame and voila! You have yourself a cot!

Repeat with the second cot and now you have two! The versatility of the Disc-O-Bed means that if you don’t want to bunk them up, you don’t have to. But it is nice to have that option when space is limited!

Time For Bunk Beds!

The Disc-O-Bed’s top frame cot has a straighter leg with black “foot plugs” that keeps the cot from sinking in the ground. The first step to transforming your cots into a bunk bed is to take off the foot plugs and insert the stack adapters. Afterwards, the top cot can be lifted and placed on top of the lower cot with the stack adapters fitting securely into the wheels. I know it looks like they could just roll off, but trust me, I was shocked at how tightly the wheel and adapter grips. As an extra measure of safety, Disc-O-Bed provides two locking straps so that the top and bottom bunks can be locked together.

Each bunk can hold up to 500 pounds which means that when camping, not only can I sleep without concern of Ben falling on top of me, but we can both keep plenty of gear and our boots up off the ground. Having been camping in a few places from Wisconsin to Southern Florida, to the mountains of Honduras, I understand the importance of being able to prevent bugs and small critters and reptiles from getting into your gear. You’ve never really roughed it unless you have had to check your boots every morning for scorpions!

Each bunk comes with it’s own organizer that attached easily with incredibly strong velcro strips. I was very impressed with the amount of gear each of these organizers held. Plus, they keep everything you could want, while winding down for the night, all within arms reach. These bunk beds might not be your memory foam, king size bed at home, but they are a big step above sleeping on the ground. Combined with a pillow and a warm, fluffy sleeping bag, you’re in for one good night’s rest!

A Couch For Two (or More!)

On one of our recent overnight bike trips, Ben, myself, and our friends Chris and Tommy were hanging out around the campfire. It was an awesome time of enjoying each other’s company but we were all wishing we just had somewhere to sit! We definitely could have used the Disc-O-Bed. The bunks are easily converted to a couch by lifting up one end of the top bunk and pulling it down towards the back end of the bottom bunk. Whether camping with friends, or taking an overnight trip with the kids, having extra seating is always a plus!

Ben and I found the Disc-O-Bed very easy to assemble and in the world of camping and outdoor gear, a very comfortable place to rest and sleep.
