My husband thinks I’m crazy. We have literally all lived in almost every single bedroom in our house at one point or another. Our schoolroom has moved several times. The office has relocated to at least four different spaces over the years. And the kids? They’ve played musical beds and bedrooms way too many times to count! Well, we’ve recently been at it again!
Our elderly neighbor was no longer able to safely live alone, so he moved in with us. At least until he’s strong enough to be on his own again. Of course, that meant…you guessed it. Room changes AGAIN! (HA!) The room we were using as our office is on the main floor. So it made the most sense to turn that space into a spare bedroom for him. That meant Ruby needed to give up her loft bedroom so we could turn the loft into our new office. And then the domino effect began.
The girls needed a bigger bed. Our middle son is 6 feet tall, and his twin bed definitely wasn’t cutting it anymore, so he upgraded too. At that point, it didn’t feel right to have every child in the house get a new bed except one! Thankfully, FlexiSpot helped us out and sent over their Kana Cloud Upholstered Bed with Headboard along with the U3 Hybrid Mattress in queen size for us to review.
After getting everything set up and seeing the finished room, I’d say this particular round of musical bedrooms worked out pretty well for everyone!

Kana Cloud Upholstered Bed With Headboard
First up is the Kana Cloud Upholstered Bed, and I have to say; it’s pretty great! This bed arrived in several boxes. Which can sometimes make me nervous because I immediately picture hours of sorting through hardware and trying to decipher confusing instructions. Thankfully, that wasn’t the case here. Assembly was surprisingly easy and straightforward.

No Tools, No Hassle
One of the most interesting features of the Kana Cloud Bed is its tool-free assembly. No relying on a pile of screws, bolts, and tools here. Instead, this frame utilizes traditional Japanese-inspired joinery. The different components are designed to snap and lock securely into place. FlexiSpot says the bed can be assembled in about 15 minutes, and I’d say that’s pretty spot on. My husband and son had the bed together in no time.
No Shaking, No Noise
The Kana Cloud is designed to be sturdy once everything is locked into place. The Japanese-style joinery creates secure connections throughout the frame to help minimize movement, wobbling, and noise. Its construction gives the bed a nice, solid feel despite its soft and cozy appearance.

The Soft Upholstery Is A Huge Win
My son’s favorite part is easily the upholstered design. The Kana Cloud lives up to its name with plush fabric covering the headboard and sides of the bed. The material has a soft, velvety feel. And it features foam and fiberfill underneath to provide extra cushioning. My son is LOVING the soft headboard and sideboards! He is able to comfortably sit and read while leaning against the headboard, which he appreciates. And he especially enjoys the fact that he doesn’t have to worry about painfully stubbing his toes against a hard bed frame like he did with his previous bed.

A Lower-Profile, Modern Design
The low profile was actually the first thing we noticed upon assembly is that the Kana Cloud sits lower to the floor than his previous bed. That took a little getting used to visually. But my son is really liking the overall design. The lower profile combined with the oversized upholstered frame gives the bed a cozy, modern appearance. And now that he has upgraded from his previous bed to a queen, he has SO much more room to stretch out!

FlexiSpot 13″ Premier Hybrid Mattress (U3)
Of course, a great bed frame needs a comfortable mattress to go along with it. So we paired the Kana Cloud with FlexiSpot’s 13″ Premier Hybrid Mattress (U3). And as the name suggests, this isn’t an all-foam mattress. The U3 combines layers of foam with individually wrapped coils to create a balance between cushioning and support. It came vacuum sealed and was surprisingly HEAVY. Thankfully, there are handles on the edge that make it easier to maneuver once unpackaged.

Because it’s such a great quality mattress, it features 768 individually wrapped coils, with 14-gauge springs through the center and stronger 13-gauge springs around the perimeter for added edge support. There’s also high-density foam incorporated into the design to provide additional support and durability.

A Closer Look At What’s Inside The U3 Hybrid Mattress:
The U3 features multiple layers working together:
- Polyester
- 2″ gel memory foam
- 2″ gel foam
- Non-woven fabric
- 8″ pocket coil system
- Non-woven fabric
- 1″ eco PU foam
- FR stitch-bonded nonwoven material
Altogether, those layers create a 13-inch hybrid mattress designed to combine the contouring comfort of foam with the responsive support of coils.
This mattress is a medium/firm, which is a versatile choice; especially for a growing teen. It works to provide a comfortable sleep for all positions including: back, side, or stomach sleeping. As the U3 is designed to promote a naturally aligned sleeping position. And the thicker 13-inch mattress works nicely with the bed’s lower-profile frame.

Final Thoughts On Our FlexiSpot Kana Cloud Bed & U3 Mattress
We think the Kana Cloud Bed and U3 Mattress make a great pair. My son is really happy with his new setup. He loves having the extra room of a queen-size bed, and the soft upholstered frame has been a big hit. I’m impressed with the quality and he’s appreciating the good nights’ rest he gets each night now.
