I never used a walker with my first two children, but as Zellene, my third, started wanting to stand a lot, I realized that a walker might be a piece of baby gear she really enjoyed. Of course, I looked to one of my favorite baby gear companies, J, first and discovered the Spoon.
Description of the Spoon (sourced from the Joovy website)
Walker meets highchair. The Spoon walker combines these two essential products into one to provide the perfect balance of eating, playing and learning to walk! Practical and good-looking, the Spoon will blend perfectly into your kitchen and home decor.
For meal and snack time, the Spoon comes with a super-sized tray that has a removable insert that can be wiped clean or put in the dishwasher for convenience. Once mealtime is over, there is lots of room for play! The extra-large tray has plenty of room for all your child’s favorite toys. The bright white color and high-gloss finish give the Spoon premium styling that cleans up easily.
As your child learns to master walking, you will feel confident using the Spoon with its ultra-wide base that provides unparalleled strength, stability, mobility and safety. The wide base ensures that little fingers won’t get pinched on the side of the tray if your toddler bumps into a wall. The seat pad is supportive and comfortable, machine washable, and is made with 600D material – combining luggage grade toughness with a soft and padded high seat back.
The Spoon has three height positions that are ideal for a child who can sit upright unassisted, up to 30 lbs and/or 33.5 inches tall. Built with steel reinforcement, oversized wheels and non-slip stair pads, the Spoon meets or exceeds all government standards in compliance and stair safety. Still, Joovy always recommends using a gate to keep stairs out of reach.
The Spoon folds flat for easy storage and travel. All Spoon walkers come out of the box almost ready to go – you only need to install the seat pad. The Spoon is entirely BPA, PVC and Phthalate Free. JPMA certified.
Zellene has loved the Spoon. She spends time in it every day and I am so thankful for it! A little cleaning tip I’ve found is that if you don’t want to take the seat out to machine wash it, you can just hose the whole thing off. After a few hours of drying time, it’s ready to go again!
The Joovy Spoon is just so awesome, I made a video review of it to show you all of the great features. Check it out!

Do you think this replaces something like the SKIP*HOP Explore & More 3-Stage Activity Center?

@Alexis, We have both of those things, and used them interchangeably with our first child, and now use them again with our second. It's great to have those options for different rooms or situations (we have a pool, for example, so the Spoon isn't good for poolside infant parking--but it's ideal in many other situations). The Skip*Hop Activity Center got a little irredeemably gross after heavy use with our first kid--honestly, through our own neglect and laziness--and we just bought a second one. The great thing about that was that the toys weren't exactly the same, and we could just add the ones that were different from the first table to the second. Anyway--these are both great assets to have, and my daily experience confirms that they're complementary, not redundant.

This post is a few years old and I no longer have the walker. Unfortunately, I don't remember for sure. I don't think they would scratch but you may want to double check with Joovy's customer service.

Thanks for the great review. Had my eyes on this walker for my new grandchild but wondered about a review I read from a couple people that it didn't adjust high enough to accommodate their baby so they had to buy a new one at 6 months. The description from Joovy states it's for babies up to 33.5" tall, which is longer than most. Confused. Thanks.

My daughter (in the photo in this review) was 10.5 months. I can't remember at this point what height it was at, but I felt like the Spoon worked great for her!
