Your favorite one year old is turning 2 next week. Christmas is approaching and your preschooler needs some winning gifts from Santa. Maybe it’s almost Easter and you need something perfect for her Easter basket. Quick, what do you get them? How do you decide what toys to purchase for your own children and the other important children in your life? Are you looking for the best educational toys for preschoolers? Are you looking for toys for toddlers that will excite them? There are a few things I’ve learned over the years when purchasing toys, and I wanted to share those tips with you today.
Toys that are timeless can be passed down from one child to the next, from generation to generation. These are the toys that kids have played with for decades. Think blocks, stacking rings, puzzles, sturdy vehicles, and dolls.
Kids can really be rough on their play toys! They don’t make toys like they used to — you have to do your research to find quality toy brands. Plastic toys these days are often made cheap and break easily. If you do decide to go with plastic, make sure it’s of high quality, or it will probably not last very long. Wooden toys are a great option because they are built to last.
Kids these days spend a lot of time with electronics — when it comes to playtime, I like to find toys that will inspire my children to use their imaginations, don’t you? Toys that allow my kids to role play always end up being some of the favorites!
I love when playtime and learning go hand in hand. The best toys are ones that are educational, without the child ever even realizing they are learning! My kids have learned so much over the years through play.
Recently I was introduced to a new, up and coming toy company, Cubbie Lee Toy Company, and I quickly fell in love with their range of adorable, brightly colored toys. Not only do their toys meet all the requirements on my toy checklist, they are affordable too! We have the Penguin Stacker and the Fruit Chopping Set. They have so many neat items though, like the Noah’s Ark set and the Afternoon Tea Party set — those are on my wishlist for the kids!
Gideon is just in love with the adorable Penguin Stacker. He laughs every time I get it down for him to play with and enjoys carrying the toy all through the house. The wooden rings are so brightly colored and very sturdy. He’s dropped them quite a few times but there’s not a scratch or mark on them yet. Little Zellene also enjoys perfecting her hand-eye coordination by stacking the rings.
The Fruit Chopping Set has been perfect for teaching Zellene about colors, matching, and fruit identification. It’s also another way for her to work on her hand-eye coordination. She’s been practicing her cutting skills a lot lately and getting faster! I love watching her use her imagination to make me “fruit soup” with her new wooden fruits.
Cubbie Lee Toy Company has a large selection of unique toys that are sure to please the little one in your life. Their toys are aimed at children ages 0-5 and make great gifts that parents and children will both love. You can purchase the toys directly from their website and also at Amazon.com.
