Easy Breakfast Ideas For Kids

While life tends to be busy in general, the school year can get extra hectic for many families. Whether you homeschool, private school, public school, charter school, or educate the kids some other way, schedules get a little crazy once September hits. To help you out, we’ve rounded up some yummy, easy breakfast ideas to help you get a jumpstart on planning.

Easy Breakfast Ideas For Kids

The Classics

When you think of easy quick kids breakfast ideas, these are the staples that probably come to mind. They are classics that many kids (and adults) enjoy and often times, include ingredients you probably have on hand.

  • Instant Oatmeal (This can be the instant packets that already come flavored or the instant kind you make on the stovetop in just minutes.)
  • Cereal With Milk
  • Toast
  • Healthy Smoothie Bowl (Make your smoothies and freeze them in jars. In the morning, thaw for a little while in the microwave and top with granola and peanut butter.)
  • Mini Fruit Kebabs with Blueberry Yogurt Dip
  • Fresh Fruit:
    • banana, orange, apple, berries, pineapple, mango, grapefruit, pears, peaches (Try to keep in-season fresh fruit on hand for those hectic times when you need a nutritious but quick option.)

Bread/Carb Themed

Many breakfast foods tent to be heavy on the carbs. While I try to balance the meal out with other ingredients, these are definitely fan favorites around our home! I definitely lean towards serving these options up more often than not.

  • 5 Minute Air Fryer Donuts
  • Frozen Waffles (Either store bought or homemade and frozen for hectic mornings.)
  • Waffles Topped With Peanut Butter
  • Nutella Waffle Sandwiches
  • Frozen Pancakes (Either store bought or homemade and frozen.)
  • Sheet Pan Pancakes (By making your pancakes in a large pan, this is a recipe that makes enough for a crowd!)
  • French Toast
  • French Toast Roll Ups (Google strawberry french toast rollups for a sweet twist!)
  • Caramel Monkey Bread
  • Muffins From A Mix (Although homemade muffins like these pumpkin chocolate chip muffins can be made ahead of time for easy grab and go eating, bagged muffin mixes work well in a pinch.)
  • Bagels With Cream Cheese
  • English Muffin With Cheese
  • Frozen French Toast Sticks
  • Chocolate Chip Banana Bread
  • Canned Cinnamon Rolls
  • PB & J Sandwiches
  • Frosted Cranberry Orange Bread
  • Carrot Cake
  • Avocado Toast
  • Poptarts
  • Pre-made Hashbrown Patties
  • Raisin Bran Breakfast Cookies
  • Strawberry Bruschetta
  • Pancake And Sausage On A Stick (Perfect for the kids who are obsessed with corndogs.)
  • Mini Fruit Pizza
  • Berry Filled Popovers
  • Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal Cookies

Protein Rich/Enhanced

Getting some protein in is a great way to stave off hunger pains longer. We all know meats have protein but cheese can also be a great source of protein and calcium so try to sneak those into your breakfast options as well.

  • Muffin Tin Egg Bakes / Bite Size Egg Muffins (These reheat especially well in the air fryer.)
  • Cheese Toast
  • Homemade Protein Granola Bars
  • Yogurt With Granola
  • Vanilla Greek Yogurt With Berries
  • Vanilla Greek Yogurt With Crumbled Graham Crackers
  • Yogurt Parfait
  • Breakfast Pizza (This recipe is AMAZING and filling for a great start to the day. Because it does take some prep work, either make it ahead of time to reheat in the air fryer or prep the ingredients the night before so you can just throw together and toss in the oven.)
  • Sausage Patties
  • Turkey Sausage
  • Breakfast Burrito (These work well to make ahead and wrap in parchment paper for single serving sizes to microwave and go.)
  • Egg Bake (Just toss whatever ‘filling’ ingredients the kids like into a pan with some beat up eggs for an easy meal. You can also prep this the night before and then pop in the oven in the morning.)
  • Hard Boiled Eggs
  • Egg Casserole
  • Omelets
  • Peanut Butter Served With Fresh Fruit
  • Baked Oatmeal With Blueberries
  • Overnight Oats
  • Toaster Scrambles (This savory breakfast option is made with bacon, cheese sauce, and scrambled eggs in a pastry crust and can be conveniently kept in your freezer for an easy breakfast option in a pinch.)
  • Sausage And Pancake On A Stick
  • Apple Granola Stackers (Even the pickiest eaters will love this sweet, nutty breakfast. Slice apples in thin circles and top with peanut butter and granola.)
  • Nordic Breakfast Porridge
  • Breakfast Nachos (Load these with all the classic breakfast flavors! Frozen waffles replace tortilla chips as a crunchy base, and they’re perfect for piling high with breakfast sausage, cheddar cheese and eggs. Extra toppings like avocado, cherry tomatoes and scallions are an easy way to step up this picture-perfect dish with even more flavor.)
