I’m in a couple different Facebook vacation groups and I recently saw quite a few people recommending the Drury as a great hotel option. I was new to hearing the name so I decided to do some homework. After learning more about Drury Hotels, I knew I needed to check them out myself. So today, I’m super excited to share our experience and Drury Hotel Review – St. Paul, MN.
Enjoy Travel FREEdom With Drury Amenities
In short, there are several specific reasons why I feel Drury is not just different, but they actually stand out above the crowd. As a large family, every penny counts and Drury offers some awesome perks for FREE! Some of these amenities truly make all the difference and help us keep our budget.
What Makes Drury Different?
Spacious Rooms
I absolutely LOVE the rooms at Drury Plaza Hotel! They are so much more spacious than typical rooms. This hotel offers two room options: 1 Bed King Suite and 2 Beds Queen Suite. We chose the queen for the extra bed and then also requested pack ‘n plays for the little ones. There was plenty of space to accommodate all of us!
Our room consisted of: Living Room w/Sofa Sleeper, Chair, and tv; a small kitchenette area with counter, microwave, and mini fridge; a bathroom with a shower/tub combo, stool, and sink; and then finally, a spacious bedroom with two queen beds, tv, dresser, and closet.
The two boys took the sofa sleeper couch during the night, which we folded up each morning so we could utilize this space as a daytime hangout as well.
The ONE complaint we had was the bathroom sliding door has no way to ‘lock’ it. With toddlers, this was problematic! Whoever was utilizing the bathroom was constantly yelling for backup as the toddlers would try to enter every single time. So someone had to stand guard and hold the door shut. Other than that, the bathroom was functional and beautiful.
This bedroom is so spacious! Even without the bonus living room this suite offers, the bedroom is larger than most standard hotel rooms. We EASILY fit two pack ‘n plays in here with plenty of space to walk around.
Free Hot Breakfast
Enjoy scrambled eggs, oatmeal, pancakes, waffles, fresh fruit, potatoes, sausage, biscuits & gravy, muffins, bagels, toast, cereal, yogurt, the all-important coffee, and more! We got to enjoy the delicious Drury breakfast on a Monday and Tuesday and we all found things we loved to help us start our day out right.
5:30 Kickback
THIS is what sold me! Who wouldn’t love a free dinnertime / evening snack!? After a day of exploring or ‘resort day’ relaxing; having the option to enjoy the FREE 5:30 Kickback makes all the difference. It’s never been easier to indulge yourself with a rotating menu of dinnertime snacks and cold beverages. And for the adults over 21, we were allotted THREE drinks with options including beer, wine, mixed drinks, and more; every single night of the week that we stayed!

Free Soda And Popcorn
In the afternoons, we enjoyed heading to the lobby to grab some free, freshly popped popcorn. The soda machine over where they serve breakfast and 5:30 Kickback was also open too!
Free Wi-Fi
Guests can rest easy knowing they’ll always be connected with free Wi-Fi at the Drury.
The Pool & Hot Tub
Because we typically have kids in tow, a good pool and hot tub are a must. Thankfully, Drury Plaza had us covered. The pool was nice and warm, which made for fun swimming and play.
It was so nice that we actually went swimming four different times during our 2 day stay!
Fitness Center
I love to walk on my treadmill each morning and try to do it at least some days when on vacation. So whether you’re at work or play, Drury’s 24-hour fitness centers offer the perfect opportunity to kickstart your day, keep you moving, or cross that finish line.

Kitchen & Bar
While we ran out of time and didn’t get to check it out personally, this hotel also had an in-house restaurant and specialty bar available too. (They had a $5 chocolate dessert that looked AMAZING and I want to go back just to try it!)

Final Thoughts: St. Paul Drury Hotel Review
We had a really great stay at the Drury Plaza Hotel – St. Paul Downtown. The building itself was very nice and the entry was key-card secure — meaning you had to be buzzed in or have a valid key card for entry.
This hotel is spacious and clean and every single worker we encountered was super nice! From the front desk to the food staff to the housekeeping; everyone had a smile, kind word, and offered assistance. When my key card demagnetized, they quickly fixed the problem. At breakfast and 5:30 Kickback, the staff were quick to clean away dirty dishes and while I was wiping down the mess made by the toddlers, I was told not to worry and the staff quickly stepped in with a bucket and rag.
Something to note is this location is also very close to a variety of local attractions. We actually walked to the State Capital and Children’s Museum even!
We had a truly great stay and whether you’re in St. Paul or near another Drury Plaza location, I highly recommend you book your next stay with them!
