I am far from crafty. Pretty much everyone who knows me well, knows this. Even though I’ve tried several projects in the past, they rarely turn out how I want. So I tend to need a little (okay, okay….. a LOT of) direction.
Being a part of my local MOPS has been great! If you want to know how to make mom friends, a MOPS group is a great place to start!
We do a variety of things at our meetings, from speakers to yoga, making freezer meals to crafts like rainbow crayons and Kool-Aid playdoh for the kids or eucalyptus soap melts for ourselves. They really provide us moms with a wide array of experiences, learning, and fun.
Simple and Easy DIY Scripture Wall Hanging Instructions
Since we made some really cute EASY DIY Scripture Wall Hanging this past week, I wanted to share with you. Because even if you aren’t crafty, this is something you can pull off!
Supplies
One of my favorite parts about this particular craft is that it’s fairly inexpensive to make. To create your very own Simple DIY Wall Scriptures, you’ll need to gather:
- Paint Sticks (free from your local hardware or paint stores!)
- Twine/String
- Paint or Stain
- Foam Paint Brush
- Printable Paper Sign(s)
- Hot Glue Gun
- Pallet Board (optional)
Instructions
First, head over to Pinterest and search for free printable signs. There are tons to choose from so hopefully you can find something to suit your need for this particular project. For MOPS, we went with these encouraging floral signs. Since it came in four different quotes, it was nice for the moms to have a choice. Print on thicker, card stock style paper for the best durability.
Next, cut your paint sticks. Measure and trim them so they are just a little bit longer than the paper. This helps to protect your sign and looks cute.
Choose your paint color(s) and paint the sticks on one side. Don’t worry about painting the back sides. We had three options that matched the signs: teal, pink, and a wood stain. They dry pretty fast but let set for about 10-15 minutes to avoid finger prints.

Then cut your twine to the desired length and tie to the two ends of ONE of the sticks. (Each sign will need a total of two sticks, one with string and one without.) Simply hot glue each stick to the top and bottom of your sign.

And finally, IF you want a more rustic look, you can simply mount on a wooden pallet board.

DIY Wall Scriptures Makes For A Great Gift!
As you can see, this was a really simple and inexpensive project. Most of the supplies are probably things you have around the house already. And you could even use up some leftover paint you have sitting at home as well. Or even put it out on Facebook to see what leftovers your friends have for color options.
All the moms at MOPS made their own sign and then we also made one for each of the volunteers that were watching our kids. And since there was leftover supplies, I actually made one for our little foster baby‘s mom! (I thought that the one was a nice encouraging saying and since he was actually going home that day, it was perfect timing!)
I was so pleased with the way my DIY scripture wall hanging turned out!
If you’re looking for other great crafts to do and have a bit more time, check out this post about how to make your own unpaper towels. It’s a great way to be more eco-friendly!
So tell me, do you make your own home decor?

very nice, and definitely a simple thing to make as well. I agree, they would make wonderful gifts for family, friends etc... in addition to sprucing up your own home decor too.

Love this idea! The pink one looks great! I love buying some canvas and painting something to hang on our walls. I love looking at art books and trying to do my own painting.

How pretty! i love this idea for multiple things too. I could hang up my drawings/paintings I do for my daughter's room. Her likes are always changing. She loves Mario and my little pony but I still have Moana hanging up.
