What Does It Mean To Be a Princess?

Disney Princess Carriage Girls

This post is sponsored by Dynacraft. We were provided a 24V Dynacraft Disney Princess Carriage Ride-On at no cost to facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.

Nearly every day my kids will make their way over to the dress-up box and a few minutes later, emerge as their favorite princess, superhero, or villain. Just yesterday Princess Elsa and Princess Anna were being protected by the resident Jedi warrior. Some days the 3 of them will play this way for hours! I know they are eager for the day that baby brother Gideon can join in on the fun!

Did you know that princesses are a great way to teach them your girls about good character qualities? This week, the girls and I sat down to talk about just that! Together, we decided that being a princess means a few things:

Princesses Use Good Manners

My girls noted that princesses always use good manners! Please, thank you, excuse me, and I’m sorry – these are all phrases you’ll hear from a good princess.

Princesses Care About Their Family

I remember being brought to tears when Maggie and I went to see Frozen in theaters. What a sweet story showing a sister’s love! Both of my girls love Frozen too, and they talked about how Anna and Elsa are such good sisters. They also mentioned Snow White and how much she cared for the 7 dwarfs. And look at Cinderella – she was kind even to her evil stepsisters and mother!

The girls agreed that being a princess meant they would even share their awesome new princess carriage with their slightly jealous brother. It may be pink and purple, but who could blame the guy for wanting to drive this sweet ride too?!

Princesses Care For the Animals & Earth

My girls love animals, so they were quick to point out how much the princesses love the animals around them. Remember how caring Cinderella was to the mice (yuck!). Then there is Pocohontas, who also cared a lot about the animals and earth around her.

Princesses are Strong and Courageous

Sometimes princesses have to do thing that require strength and courage. Belle was willing to take her father’s place and live with the beast. Pocahontas was willing to die for John Smith. I’m glad that my girls know that being a female doesn’t have to mean they are weak or that they can’t make a difference!
