We currently have two toddlers in our home. Our little Ruby is 2 and our foster buddy is 1. (Of course, we also have 5 older kids.) To say we are busy would be an understatement! And even though I’m technically a ‘stay at home’ mom, there are some toddler essentials that we were in need of for the kids. So when I came across Urban Infant’s list of daycare essentials, I just had to stock up. Their lineup is not only super adorable but also ultra functional. Check out our favorites and don’t forget to order something for your kiddos too!

Packed for Preschool Saver Bundle: Backpack + Lunch Bag Combo

Even though our littles don’t go to preschool, we do go do homeschool co-op. And each time we meet, the kids need to pack lunches and snacks to enjoy while we’re there. This backpack/lunch bag combo set is PERFECT! Plus, it’s available in a variety of patterns and colors.

Because both of the toddlers are still in diapers, I was carrying around a massive diaper bag that was super heavy. (I kid you not, it gave me a backache every time I had to grab it!) Even though I tried to cut down on what we were bringing along, each child still needed diapers, wipes, snack, water bottle, and a spare outfit. Then I also kept one fidget toy and bib for each in it. Now with each toddler having their own little Urban Infant Backpack, the weight has been lifted off my shoulders….LITERALLY! It’s been so great separating each child’s things into their own little bag, so we can grab what we need, when we need it.

I also really like the way these bags are designed. The backpack and lunch bag can operate independently or be clipped together for ease of combo carry.

These bags are adorable and functional. Features include:

  • Bite-size backpack just the right size for daycare and preschool. Padded shoulder straps, a chunky zipper-pull easy for toddlers, and a patented tube for rolling paperwork and art projects.
  • Rugged lunch bag for little kids ages 2-5. Great for packing lunch or after-school playground snacks. Features a insulated interior, allergy alert cards, and a pocket for a freezer block.
  • There is a clever clear pocket to hold set of Food Allergy Alert Cards: Gluten Allergy Alert, Nut/Treenut Allergy Alert, and Lactose Intolerant Alert. If your child does not have an allergy, this is a cute place to tuck a love note.
  • Kids love to pick from our fun patterns and play with their new school items at home to help transition to the new days ahead at school. Let your child pick their own pattern, personalize the name tag, and pack their special belongings before their first day!
  • Winner of Mom’s Choice Award and the National Parenting Seal of Approval.

Reversible Bucket Hat for Toddlers

Summertime means fun in the sun but I try to be diligent in keeping the kids sun-safe too. Having a hat to help shade the toddlers’ heads and faces is super important and these reversible bucket hats do the job well.

They are lightweight, making them perfect for playground fun, neighborhood walks, and even hanging out at the pool. These hats are available in two sizes and run true to size. I grabbed the size small (1-2 years) for our foster son and the medium (2-5 years) for our daughter. Both could have easily worn the small but the medium will work for our daughter as well, while offering room to grow.

NOTE: These hats do NOT have a strap to secure under the chin. However, they CAN be personalized if you’d like!

Pipsqueak Tiny Pillow and Pillowcase

Several weeks ago, Ruby started asking for a pillow. I kept putting her off because, even though at age 2, kids are ‘allowed’ pillows; I wasn’t comfortable giving her a full sized one. Then I saw Urban Infant’s Pipsqueak Tiny Pillow and knew it was the perfect compromise!

This pillow measures in at 10″ by 7″ and can be purchased as a stand-alone or with a matching pillowcase. (12 different color options for the pillowcases!) It’s also designed with a small clipping loop for easy take-along traveling.

It was the perfect compromise and Ruby has been sleeping wonderfully on this awesome mini pillow.

Urban Infant has a variety of other great products in addition to the above that you should check out including: Sleep Mats, Cot Mats, Aprons, Toddler Bed Pillows, Totes, Wallets, and more!

I remember how important it was to have a good backpack ready to go on those busy mornings. This is a great list to have on hand.
