You Don’t Have To Homeschool Alone was first featured on Thrifty Nifty Mommy in partnership with College Prep Science Labs. As always, all opinions are my own.
When we first started our homeschool journey over ten years ago, our youngest daughter was just four years old. My mantra at the time was “we’ll do this as long as it works”. Because, let’s face it, when you’re just starting out, you may hear a lot of ‘how long are you going to homeschool’? Or “you’re not going to homeschool through high school, are you”? (Although, I will say that a great deal of the people who had these questions were relatives…… So perhaps you have family that is a bit more supportive? We were the first to homeschool in the family so this was new to everyone!)
But if we’re going to be completely honest, YES, homeschooling all the way through high is a little scary at times. Do I know everything? Of course not. Am I fully equipped with all the answers? Oh heck no! But seriously… who is? Even public schooled teachers do not know all the answers. The thing you have to accept as a homeschool parent/teacher is that it’s okay to ask for help. It’s okay to not know everything. What you do need to know is where to look for those answers and help!
You Don’t Have To Homeschool Alone!
No matter what your reasons for homeschooling. Part of the beauty of this journey is that you get to find others to come along side you. And there are so many homeschool resources if you just look around or ask. And as you get to the older grades, definitely don’t think you have to do it all alone at home. College Prep Science Labs is here to help!
College Prep Science Labs To The Rescue
Geared for 7th-12th graders. Students can complete one entire year of Christ-Centered science labs in just two days! Does that sound appealing to you? It sure is to me! One thing that I know my kids would love to do more of is hands on science activities and labs. So College Prep Science Labs is the perfect solution for us.
A Little Background On College Prep Science Labs
As a homeschool dad and former college professor, Greg is passionate about teaching science. In particular, he loves to teach Christ-centered science to homeschooled students. So he offers a Biology/Anatomy and Physiology two day lab intensives as well as a Chemistry two day lab intensives. He loves having the privilege of interacting with 7th-12th grade students as they work to cover wide-ranging and in depth college-prep labs and the appropriate background information.
The Focus
During the College Prep Science Labs, Greg also focuses on building critical thinking skills and developing a research and inquiry mindset with the resulting quality lab reports and thinking skills that affect every area of academics and life. As he once heard a pastor say, “think critically, deeply, creatively, and biblically.” God is glorified as we explore His Creation in depth… illuminating His creation – revealing His glory!
School Credit
Parents may issue school credit for these labs as they deem appropriate – each two day intensive is the equivalent of a full school year of labs. Students will spend two enjoyable, knowledge and skill building days in a caring, Christ-centered environment. Also, many parents have their students do both, Biology and Chemistry, to get them both done!
Relatable Stories
Greg also tells lots of stories with real-life Biology and Chemistry applications and talks to the students about “life 101,” working hard at what they do (Colossians 3:23), working toward academic excellence, and encouraging others (1 Thessalonians 5:11, Ephesians 4:29, Proverbs 12:25, Hebrews 10: 24-25, Proverbs 17:22, 1 Thessalonians 4:18). Each lab intensive is an interesting and enjoyable day and a half of learning and growing.

This looks like such a great program. I love that homeschooled children can participate in group activities while learning science. It's great preparation for the college environment.

We were asked the same questions when we started homeschooling 5 years ago. We still get them sometimes or I get told how much easier it would be to shop or clean my house if I didn't spend my day homeschooling. Middle and high school curriculum still intimidates me, but I really feel like we are in for the long haul. I love the idea of lab days centered around a Christian environment. I would love to add them into our curriculum once our kids are old enough. I think they would really enjoy and get a lot out of them.

This is a really neat opportunity! They sure didn't have resources like this back 20 years ago.
