Christmas in July: How (and Why) We Turned Up the Holiday Magic in the Middle of Summer

Christmas in July. Huh? That’s what my son said when he saw me opening up a box of Christmas items that had just arrived from Old World Christmas.

So, why was I unpacking a box of Christmas items in July? Simple – we have a baby due at the end of October/early November and I knew life would be VERY busy right around the time we would normally start prepping for Christmas.

I decided this year I better start preparing early and yes, for us that meant starting in July.

Did you know that companies who specialize in Christmas decor often release their new items for the year in July? It’s such a great time to start prepping for the holiday season!

There were a few things on my list this year that I wanted for our Christmas celebration. I need to get a stocking for the new baby, our old Nativity is broken so I wanted to find one of those, and we needed a new wreath.

Thankfully, the custom stockings I ordered last year are still available, so I will place an order for the new baby once we figure out what his name will be. Then my brother-in-law found a nativity for me at a yard sale for just $3 – score!

Last on my list was a new wreath and I knew just where to look for that – Old World Christmas. That’s where we’ve started shopping for our St. Nicholas Day Christmas ornaments for the kids so I knew tthere was a good chance I’d find lots of great options there…and I was right!

Check out this beautiful Christmas wreath I picked out for our home!

After bringing the wreath inside, I decided it would also look fabulous in my entry way.

I have a mirror there and this cute white bench that’s great when it’s time for everyone to get their shoes on.

What do you think? Do you like it better on our front door or in the entryway?

Do you see the Christmas pillow on the bench? Well, while I was looking on the Old World Christmas site I noticed that pillow and knew it would look great on that bench at Christmas. I couldn’t pass it up!

On a whim I decided to check and see if Old World Christmas sold a tabletop Nativity set. They do not currently have one of those (I hope they do in the future!) but what they do have is an amazing Nativity ornament set!

I’m thinking of getting a small tabletop tree this year where I can put these special ornaments. This set comes with 9 ornaments: a cow, a sheep, a donkey, a camel, Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus, shepherds with sheep, the 3 wise men, the star of Bethlehem, and an angel.

This set is packaged perfectly for gifting (would be a wonderful present for a newlywed couple or new homebuyers) and everything is packaged surrounded by foam for protection during shipping and storing year-to-year.

Old World Christmas is actually celebrating Christmas in July right now on their website. They’ve been releasing all of the new stuff for this upcoming holiday season plus they have sales and giveaways happening all month!

It’s one of my absolute favorite Christmas stores, so if you haven’t checked it out yet, now’s the time!

While it was fun to check out this new Christmas decor, no, we aren’t keeping it up for the month of July. It IS however a reminder that we’re only a little more than 4 months away from the holiday season (what?!) and if I can slowly start to get prepared now it will make for a less stressful and more joyous season for the whole family!
