I’m sure it will come as no surprise that with a name like Thrifty Nifty Mommy, I love to find a good deal.

One way of scoring some great deals in my area is by shopping yard sales. The problem is that taking 7 kids our to yard sales is not the easiest task. Luckily for me, I have a brother-in-law who loves great deals as much as I do. When I have certain things I’m looking for, I just ask him to keep an eye out for me when he’s shopping.

A few weeks ago my brother-in-law and sister were at a yard sale and got me an AMAZING deal on a Christmas village set. It’s based on Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol, and I just love it!

This was a big set and I quickly realized there was one problem – I didn’t have a safe place to display it. Ever since we moved back to West Viriginia last year I’ve slowly been working on acquiring furniture and definitely have a need still for a few more pieces.

I have been looking for something to give us more storage in our dining room and when I saw the VASAGLE Rattan Sideboard Buffet Storage Cabinet, I immediately fell in love with the look. They seemed like I could get 2 and push them together for a longer unit, so that’s what I did.

Maybe, like me, you’ve noticed lately that sometimes the quality of items on Amazon is not great. There are tons of brands on there now, many of them with a similar look and brand names you can’t pronounce.

Sometimes I order one item from a brand I’m unfamiliar with and I love it but then other times I’m left very disappointed with the quality of the item I receive. There have even been times when what arrived at my house looked way different from what was presented online. Has this happened to you?

Because of that, I was cautiously optimistic about these cabinets from VASAGLE.

Initial Impressions of the VASAGLE Rattan Sideboard Buffet Storage Cabinet

The first thing I noticed was just how heavy the box for each cabinet was – over 50 pounds! I’ve purchased a lot of IKEA furniture over the years and expected this cabinet to be of similar construction. At over 50 pounds, it was definitely heavier than I expected!

Yes, this furniture is the kind you are going to have to assemble. There were quite a few pieces including a lot of hardware. The instructions were clear and I was pleased to see that they not only include an Allen wrench, but a regular-style screwdriver tool as well. While I would suggest also using a power drill to save time, it’s possible to put it together with just the tools included.

The pictures above are some of the pieces waiting for assembly. You can see how they are clearly labeled with letters or numbers.

It took me about 90 minutes to assemble the first cabinet (with “help” from my youngest child) and about an hour with the second cabinet.

Overall Thoughts of the VASAGLE Rattan Sideboard Buffet Storage Cabinet

Now that the cabinets are assembled and I have been using them for a few days, I just have to tell you, I LOVE these cabinets! They turned out to be the perfect size for my Christmas Village and they offer so much additional storage (with adjustable shelves too – see photo below to see this).

When the Christmas season is over, I will continue using the cabinets for storage and use the top for my many houseplants.

For the price, they can’t be beat! I am a die-hard IKEA fan and not only do I think the price is comparable to IKEA, I think the quality is actually even better than IKEA. These units are sturdy and, although they are not 100% solid wood, portions of them are solid wood.

I like them so much I am considering buying a third one AND considering lots of other VASAGLE products to add to my wish list.
