If you’ve been following my blog for a while now, you might remember that I reviewed the Mamas & Papas Armadillo Stroller last May, shortly before baby Zellene was born. Well, the Armadillo now has a baby brother, the Armadillo Flip, and I was lucky enough to receive one for review, as part of a special campaign with Mamas and Papas (more on that in a bit).
Now, I don’t want to tell you all the same stuff since you already read my Armadillo review, but if you haven’t read that yet, click HERE – then come back. Okay, you read that review right? Good – now let me tell you how the Armadillo is different. Remember how I said in that review that the Armadillo only faced outward and not the parent or caregiver pushing the stroller, well the Armadillo Flip changes that, hence the “Flip!” Well, I already loved my Armadillo, but I was pretty excited about this new feature! Zellene, at 6 months old, wants to know where Mommy is at all times now. This was just the feature we needed from our Armadillo! In about 10 seconds, you can easily push the release buttons and flip the seat to face the desired direction: forward or backward.
One other update I noticed to this stroller is that the seat reclines and inclines with the handle located on the back of the seat. With the original Armadillo, you use the handle to recline, but then pull two straps on the back of the seat. I love that the handle now allows you to do both! I could be wrong, but I also feel like the canopy is a little bit bigger on the Flip as well (which is an even bigger bonus!). I hate going out in the winter time because strangers like to put their germy hands around my kids. With Zellene in this stroller with that canopy pulled all the way down, she’s barely visible and no one bothers her. You might notice in the picture below that the only part of Zellene you can see is her tiny hand.
It’s been cold and snowy here, but that hasn’t kept me from taking this stroller into the world to try it out. We headed out for Zellene’s first trip in the snow, some shopping, and a stop at our favorite frozen yogurt place. Let me tell you – it handles like a DREAM! It glides with ease over grass, gravel, and yes, even through the snow. I love the easy set/release brake (which will be flip-flop friendly once spring arrives) and I appreciate the large basket underneath.
This is now the fourth stroller that I’ve reviewed from Mamas and Papas and they continue to be my favorite stroller brand out there. I’m dying to get my hands on a double stroller from Mamas & Papas because their quality and attention to details is unmatched. They have never let me down with a product, and the Armadillo Flip continues that tradition. Zellene is happy as can be in her new Armadillo Flip!
