Celebrate Christmas with the National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation Village from Department 56!

My husband is a huge movie fan. I would estimate that he’s probably seen 4xs the amount of movies I have seen. Nearly every movie we watch he has either already seen or it’s a first watch for both of us.

However, our first Christmas together after we were married I was shocked to discover he’d never seen National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation. Luckily for him I had a copy on VHS. We watched it, he laughed until he cried, and it’s been a holiday movie we try to watch annually ever since.

I wanted to add to our Christmas Village collection this year and was so excited to discover that Department 56 has a set designed around National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation.

This set is just PERFECT! I love all of the details that leave no doubt these pieces are depicting scenes from the movie!

The Griswold Holiday House

If you can only get one piece from this set, here it is! The house is just as you’d expect it to be from the movie – totally decked out in lights from the bottom of the house all the way to the roof.

Fire It Up Dad

Who could forget the scene when Chevy Chase plugs in all of the lights on the house? Joy to the World!

This piece goes great with the Griswold Holiday House.

The Griswold Family Christmas

The massive tree, pulled up by the roots on top of the station wagon is such an iconic scene from this movie. I love that Department 56 even used some real string to “tie” it down. It’s a must-have piece.

Cousin Eddie’s RV & Cousin Eddie in the Morning

If you’re going to have a National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation village, these are two other piece you NEED for your collection: Cousin Eddie’s RV & Cousin Eddie in the Morning.

Cousin Eddie’s RV lights up (you can power the lights with batteries or purchase a cord adapter seperately for it) and Cousin Eddie smoking his cigar in his bathrobe while he pumps out his septic is an iconic scene everyone who has seen the movie will remember!

Animated Flaming Sleigh

This piece is so fun because Santa really flies through the air! My kids have loved watching him go around and around.

This piece was designed from the famous scene when the yard decorations take flight. The movemen of Santa really draws attention to the entire village scene.

My little Matthias can’t get enough of looking at it. He loves this set!

My husband often asks me what I want each year for Christmas and I’m stumped, but now I know I can always ask him for additional pieces to my Christmas Village!
