BRUNT Workwear Review: Tested on a Working Dairy Farm

If you’ve been following Thrifty Nifty Mommy for awhile, you may already know that we own and operate a working family dairy farm. My husband and I purchased his family’s farm 23 years ago and, while we’ve grown from milking 50 cows to nearly 100 today, we still proudly run it as a small family farm.

That also means there’s no large hired crew handling the workload. Day in and day out, it’s mostly just our immediate family keeping things running. Farming isn’t a typical 9-to-5 job either. A “light day” for my husband is usually around 10–12 hours. And during busy seasons? Those hours stretch MUCH longer. Between feeding cattle, milking, fixing equipment, hauling feed, cleaning barns, and tackling endless daily chores; his workwear gets put through some seriously tough conditions.

That means durability matters around here.

Over the years, my husband has gone through a LOT of work gear. Unfortunately, most brands just don’t hold up to the demands of a working farm life. Others may start out comfortable but quickly wear thin, lose shape, or fall apart after constant use and repeated washing. (He gets dirty, sprayed with manure, and covered with grease often!) So when we find workwear that truly performs well on the farm, it stands out immediately. And that’s exactly why we’ve become big fans of BRUNT Workwear!

Why BRUNT Workwear Works For Farm Life

What my husband appreciates most about BRUNT is how their clothing is clearly designed for people who actually work hard every single day. The materials feel durable without being stiff or uncomfortable, and the clothing performs well during long hours in constantly changing conditions. (Farming life is often an outdoor profession, no matter the weather, temps, or conditions!)

On our dairy farm, we need workwear to handle:

  • Dirt and mud
  • Manure
  • Grease and fluids
  • Constant movement
  • Heavy lifting
  • Hot summer days
  • Cool early mornings
  • Freezing MN winters
  • Repeated washing
  • Daily wear and tear

Over the years, BRUNT Workwear has done an impressive job standing up to all of it! Their clothing feels rugged enough for hard labor while still being comfortable enough to wear, no matter what the day holds.

Some Of Our Favorite BRUNT Pieces

The Martin Pocket Tee: A solid work tee is a daily essential on the farm. It’s no wonder the Martin Pocket Tee quickly become my husband’s favorite! This top is comfortable, breathable, and holds up well after repeated washes. The fit works great for active tasks around the farm without feeling restrictive, and the material feels noticeably sturdier than basic t-shirts. (My husband is 5′ 10″ and about 190#. He wears a size large in this top.)

The Shevlin HD Hoodie: Farm mornings can start chilly even during warmer months. So a dependable hoodie gets a lot of use around here. The Shevlin HD Hoodie has been fantastic for layering during cooler mornings and late-night chores. It’s warm without being bulky and feels built to last through tough daily wear. (This sweatshirt seems to run a bit tighter for him so he needs and XL in this style.)

The Torra HD Pant: Work pants may honestly be one of the hardest items to keep in good shape on a dairy farm. Kneeling, climbing, lifting, and constant movement can wear through pants quickly; especially on the knees and by the pockets. The Torra HD Pant has impressed us with both comfort and durability. They move well, feel tough, and have handled daily farm chores far better than many other brands we’ve tried.

Final Thoughts

When it comes to farming, our livelihood depends on my husband’s physical labor. That means quality workwear isn’t just about comfort for him. It’s about durability, performance, and reliability. Dairy farming is especially demanding (and rewarding!) work but we’ve been genuinely impressed with how well BRUNT Workwear has held up under real-life farm conditions.

So if you’re looking for dependable workwear for farming, ranching, construction, outdoor labor, or any physically demanding job, we think BRUNT is definitely worth checking out. It’s become one of our go-to brands for clothing that can truly handle the workload of everyday farm life. And they also make work boots which we’ve heard amazing things about and hope to try personally in the near future.
