I was provided a Britax Marathon ClickTight Convertible Car Seat at no cost to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own. Amazon links are affiliate links.

Are you looking for a convertible car seat that offers you the easiest seat belt installation on the market? If so, then look no further than the Britax Marathon ClickTight Convertible Car Seat. I’m excited to tell you all about this car seat today.

Seat Specs

The Britax Marathon ClickTight can be used as a rear facing seat for children who are between 5-40 pounds and have a seated shoulder height of 7.6 – 16.95″. It can be used as a forward facing seat for children between 20-65 pounds and a sitting shoulder height of 12 – 16.95″.

The seat comes with a 1 year warranty and a 10 year expiration!

The photo above shows the seat at it’s smallest setting, while the photo below shows it at it’s largest setting.

Installation

The installation on this seat is, in my opinion, the number 1 selling feature. With ClickTight technology, you get a great install in about a minute. It is so easy! My husband frequently takes car seats in and out of his vehicle. Because of that, the only car seats he uses now are ClickTight because of the ease of install.

To use ClickTight on the Marathon, you simply push down on the indentation on the ClickTight Key (little red circle at the front of the seat) then holding the key, rotate it clockwise. This will release the bottom of the seat so you can lift it up. Once you lift the seat, you can thread the seat belt through the seat. Attach the seat belt to the car’s seat belt buckle, then close the seat to lock the seat belt into place. Please take note that the belt path you will use depends on if you are rear-facing or forward-facing this seat.

We love ClickTight technology so much and I think you will too!

Safety Features

SafeCell Impact Protection is an integrated system of safety components available only with Britax car seats. These features include a steel frame, energy-absorbing base and impact-absorbing tether with staged-release stitches that slow and reduce forward movement during a crash. Side impacts represent 25 percent of collisions. In fact, it’s these accidents that result in the most severe injuries. Britax designed the Marathon ClickTight with these statistics in mind. The seat has a deep foam-lined shell to absorb energy and shield your child from side impacts.

Secure Fit

It’s so important to not only have your car seat installed correctly, you also want to have your child secured in the car seat correctly. As a reminder, if your child is rear facing, the shoulder straps should fall at or below the shoulders. If your child is forward facing, the straps should fall at or above the shoulders.

Britax makes it easy to adjust the strap height on this car seat. Simply squeeze the red button at the top of the seat, and slide the straps into the desired position. There are 12 harness positions to choose from with this seat and also 2 buckle positions. There’s also a 7-position recline with automatic level indicator.

My Review

Britax has long been a popular baby gear brand, especially when it comes to car seats. I’ve been a fan myself for probably the past 5 years. We have been using this seat for a few months now and LOVE it! It’s such a great seat and one I recommend to just about everyone who asks me for recommendations on the best car seats. The Britax Marathon ClickTight installation alone puts it in my top 3 of recommended convertible car seats.

My only complaint is the width. In our family, because we have 4 children (and another baby on the way) and all of them are still in car seats/booster seats, I look for seats that are trim. This seat is fairly narrow at 18.5″ but in order to fit three across a back seat, you’ll need to have 55.5″, which it a bit tougher to find. I don’t have 3 Britax Marathon ClickTight seats to test it out, but I think it would be pretty hard for me to fit all 3 across the back seat of my Honda Odyssey. This would only be an issue though for parents that have 3+ children in car seats and you could always measure your seat to see if they would fit.

Other than that, the Britax Marathon ClickTight is a dream and a convertible car seat you are sure to be pleased with!

You can purchase this seat at your favorite baby retailer, including Amazon.

Hi. I too, like the Britax seats, but we do have the issue of space with having 3 in car seats. While we did get a minivan, there are times we'd like to get 3 across, if possible. Any recommendations on narrower seats?

Hi RK,

We needed 3 across the back row of our Honda Odyssey so we went with the Diono Radian RXT seats. The have worked well for us and fit! You can see a review for those here: https://thriftyniftymommy.com/diono-radian-rxt-car-seat-review/
