I have been breastfeeding for what feels like the entire last 13 years. Sure, I have had short breaks between children, but normally it’s only about an 8-month break or so before the next baby is born and I start again.
The sucky truth about breastfeeding is that although it’s natural, it doesn’t always come naturally. While I’m so happy that I’ve been able to breastfeed all 7 of my babies, I have to admit that it’s a love-hate relationship.
I’ve gone through many of trials in my breastfeeding journey that have made me want to quit, but I managed to push through and I’m happy I did!
It’s also a big commitment! It’s time-consuming, sometimes painful, and although “free” it does require investment sometimes into accessories and medications that go with it, like a nursing pump, nursing bras, breast pads, treatment for engorgement, and mastitis, etc.
Thankfully for me, I know quite a few other breastfeeding moms and we’ve been able to encourage each other and offer support and advice along the way.
If you’re a first time nursing mom, the best advice that was ever given to me was that the first 6 weeks are tough but if you can make it that far, it gets so much easier. You can do it!
Because of our many conversations about breastfeeding, I’ve accumulated quite a collection of breastfeeding memes over the years. These make me laugh and smile, even when I’m awake at 3am…breastfeeding, what else?!

Can totally relate to most of them, too. The "getting comfortable" one and Niplash - I always chide my babies for trying to take the milk "To Go"... (That's not an option at my restaurant!)
