Several years ago, the kids and I did our very first group Halloween costume and it was SO MUCH FUN! Every home we stopped at had such a genuine and excited reaction and it really made the entire night so much better than normal. Here’s what we went with last time:
Ever since that Halloween, I’ve been meaning to do another group costume but I just always ran out of time preparing. So this year, I’m planning ahead and we are finally getting around to it!
This Year We’re Going To Be……
Alice in Wonderland! We scoured the HalloweenCostumes.com website and after an hour, we settled on the Alice in Wonderland theme.
Our two oldest teens decided to bow out this year to stay home and milk cows. That leaves six of us: my husband, myself, Alex, Sam, Lucy, and Ruby.
Alice – Of course!
There wouldn’t be an Alice in Wonderland without Alice so our sweet little Ruby has been assigned this important role. She’s wearing the Deluxe Toddler Alice costume in size 18 months. This costume is generously sized but still works for her. (She’s currently 20 months old and wears size 18 month clothing.). The costume comes complete with a black hair ribbon bow. Sadly, Ruby doesn’t have enough hair to actually wear it but I’m just going to use a black headband instead.
The Queen Of Hearts
As soon as Lucy saw the Ravishing Queen of Hearts costume, she called dibs. (We added the deluxe heart scepter for the perfect finishing touch.) This costume is gorgeous and definitely a stand out addition to our group. It absolutely lives up to the notorious queen in the movie.
When I think of Alice in Wonderland, I almost immediately think of the Mad Hatter. So when I saw this bright Mad Hatter costume that looked so whimsical, fun, and colorful; I knew we had to get it for Sam. It’s a family friendly version of the crazy Mad Hatter and we love it.
The White Rabbit
“Oh dear! Oh dear! I shall be too late!” – Rabbit’s famous line from the beginning of the story as he rushes off in a panic. Without the White Rabbit, would there be an Alice in Wonderland? Alex just turned 13 but is tall and skinny. So we opted to skip the children’s sizing and go with a men’s extra-small. Seriously, isn’t this costume the best!? And check out the oversized clock accessory that really makes this outfit a smashing success!
“If you don’t know where you’re going, any road will take you there.” The Cheshire Cat makes several appearances throughout the movie and we just couldn’t leave him out. The Cheshire Cat is the only character in Wonderland who actually listens to Alice. With his remarks, he teaches Alice the ‘rules’ of Wonderland. He gives her insight in how things work down there. I’m excited to get to wear the Cheshire Cat adult sized onesie for our group.
Ace of Clubs Card Costume
Finally, we had to represent the Ace of Clubs soldier. I chose this costume for my husband as it’s one-size-fits all, easy to wear option. Since he’ll be the one driving us around on Halloween night, I wanted a costume that wouldn’t be too hard for him to manage behind the wheel.
