Halloween season is OFFICIALLY HERE! Have you started planning yet?
Just in case you missed it, I recently shared what our family costume is going to be this year. I won’t spoil the surprise here, but I’ll give you a hint: there may be an enchanted household item or two involved, along with a tale as old as time.
But as you start planning your own family’s Halloween costumes and decorations, I wanted to share some of the trending options from HalloweenCostumes.com for 2026. Whether you’re shopping for a little one, planning a group costume, searching for something nostalgic, or ready to turn your home into the creepiest one on the block; there are some really fun choices this year.

Top Halloween Costume Themes for 2026
One thing I love about Halloween is seeing the variety of popular costumes each year. For 2026, there’s a fun mix of superheroes, Disney favorites, music icons, and other costumes that are perfect for families and groups.

1. Marvel Toddler Spider-Man Costume
It’s hard to go wrong with Spider-Man, especially when you have a toddler who loves superheroes! The Marvel Toddler Spider-Man Costume allows little ones to transform into their favorite web-slinging hero with ease.

2. Little Mermaid Infant Flounder Costume
Could there be anything cuter than a baby dressed as Flounder?! And pair your little Flounder with Ariel, Sebastian, Ursula, or Prince Eric and you have an entire Little Mermaid crew.

3. Women’s Country Singer Costume
The Women’s Country Singer Costume feels right on trend for Halloween 2026. It’s a fun option if you want something recognizable. Add some big hair, boots, and plenty of country-star attitude and you’re ready for Halloween night!

4. Adult Toy Story Slinky Dog Costume
This one might be my favorite simply because it’s so much fun! (I would TOTALLY wear this with my husband!) The Adult Toy Story Slinky Dog Costume turns two people into one of the most recognizable characters from Toy Story. It’s a hilarious option for a couple, friends, or even two family members participating in a larger Toy Story group costume.

5. Michael Jackson Thriller Kid’s Costume
Some Halloween looks never really go out of style, and Michael Jackson’s iconic Thriller look is certainly one of them. This awesome costume brings a little ’80s nostalgia to the younger generation.
Top-Selling Halloween Decorations for 2026
Of course, costumes are only half the fun. Halloween decorating has gotten pretty impressive over the years too! I still remember when I was a kid and a neighbor turned their basement and garage into a haunted house. The decor they used was a mix of simple and fun. It definitely left a (good) lasting impression! And if you’re looking to do any decorating, HalloweenCostumes.com has plenty of options for anyone who wants to go beyond a few pumpkins on the porch.

1. Animated Crawling Zombie
This one is definitely a bit on the creepy side. But if you want to make guests do a double take? The Animated Crawling Zombie is definitely going to help.

2. Ghostbusters Hanging Swinging Slimer Prop
Who you gonna call? The Ghostbusters Hanging Swinging Slimer Prop combines Halloween decorating with a big dose of nostalgia. Slimer is instantly recognizable, and the swinging movement makes this decoration even more noticeable.

3. Lock, Shock, and Barrel Animatronic
The Nightmare Before Christmas fans will love this one. The Lock, Shock, and Barrel Animatronic brings Oogie Boogie’s mischievous little trio into your Halloween display.

4. Animated Rocking Horse with Doll
Now we’re getting creepy. It’s an old-fashioned rocking horse moving on its own with a creepy doll. YIKES!

5. Area 51 Roswell Alien Animatronic
The Area 51 Roswell Alien Animatronic offers something different from the traditional Halloween monsters. Create an Area 51 scene, UFO crash site, or alien laboratory and you’ve got a Halloween display your neighbors probably won’t be expecting.

How Are People Celebrating Halloween in 2026?
HalloweenCostumes.com recently surveyed consumers about how they’re shopping for and celebrating Halloween in 2026. For starters, comfort and fit have become the biggest consideration when buying a Halloween costume. Thirty percent of respondents said comfort and fit are their top priority, compared to 20% in 2024. Quality came in second at 26%.
The survey also found that costumes are the biggest Halloween expense, ranking as the category consumers expect to spend the most on. This is followed closely by indoor home décor.
Another interesting change is that costumes aren’t necessarily being purchased just for Halloween anymore. Forty-eight percent of respondents said they wear costumes for cosplay, festivals, parties, and other events throughout the year. That makes choosing a well-made costume you can wear more than once even more worthwhile.

Halloween is one of those holidays where you can go as simple or as over-the-top as you want. Grab a costume and a pumpkin bucket and you’re ready to go. Or, go all out and transform your entire yard. It’s completely up to you!
