When it comes to food, summer is the season of the best eats and treats! Can I get an “amen”?! I mean, what could be better than all the foods that are staples of the season of outdoor enjoyment? Picnics with sandwiches, salads, hot dogs, burgers, iced tea, corn on the cob, cookies, pie, and all the rest. If you can’t tell, I kind of love food… maybe too much.
Nah. No such thing as loving food too much. Just ask my dog.
Emmy shares my love of food. She can hear and recognize the sound of a cheese slice being removed from its wrapper from a significant distance, much the same as I can. She may be getting older and starting to slow down (also like me) but, for food, she transforms back into a pup (still like me). She closes the distance with the speed and agility of a professional athlete (very much unlike me).
Beneful just recently came out with a new recipe and they sent us a bag for our little red Emmy to try. Just as Emmy loves food, the Beneful team loves feeding her and many other dogs just like her. Beneful also likes to listen. When dog owners wanted the number one ingredient to be meat in their dog’s diet, Beneful jumped on the opportunity. The result is that real meat is now the number one ingredient in the beef and chicken formulas of their dry food! Beneful is also working on accomplishing the same with their salmon formula dry food as well! Not only does Beneful listen to what dog owners want in their foods, they also listen to what they don’t want. All the new dry dog food recipes from Beneful have zero added sugar.
Since Emmy is a lover of food like myself and, since summer is the season of fun and food, I wanted her to get to enjoy some special treats with the rest of the family. After all, Janessa and I have had Emmy since the early years of our marriage and she is a member of our family. I appreciate having someone around who loves food as much as I do! In the spirit of that, Janessa, the kids, and I went into the kitchen and created a new treat for Emmy to enjoy. But what to make? Why, cookies, of course! They’re a staple in our house and Emmy deserved some love too. Beneful was kind enough to send a sample of their new beef dry food recipe, so we used that to make some tasty (to Emmy at least)easy, three-ingredient peanut, butter dog cookies!
Three-Ingredient Peanut Butter Dog Cookies.
- 1 Cup Beneful Originals with Beef dry dog food
- 1/3 Cup Peanut butter
- 1 Egg
- Blend 1 cup of Beneful Originals with Beef dry dog food in a blender for 30 seconds or until blended into fine pieces.
- Transfer the crushed Beneful Originals to a mixing bowl.
- Add 1/3 cup peanut butter and 1 eggs, then mix all 3 things together well.
- Form the dough into 1 inch balls and place on baking sheet.
- Flatten the cookie balls to your desired thickness (ours were about 1/2 inch). Cookies will not spread out while baking. If you find that your cookies aren’t sticking together enough, just add a little bit of water.
- Bake at 350 degrees for 12 minutes.
- Let cool and serve!
So easy to make, even I could do it! The kids really loved helping to fix these for Emmy!
Emmy, of course, loved them. Usually when we give Emmy a treat, she wants it broken in two and will keep returning the treat to you until you do so. It is weird and I don’t understand it, but I guess it is just a quirk that she has. Not this time, though. She destroyed the cookies like she was stealing them from the kids and had to get rid of the evidence.
