Summer is winding down in West Virginia but before it comes to a close I wanted to share a review with you of one of the thrifty and nifty products I had the opportunity to try out this summer: Bambi & Boo Reusable Swim Diapers!
Why Use a Reusable Swim Diaper?
Disposable swim diapers can get pretty expensive if you swim as much as our family does, so reusable diapers SAVE MONEY. We have a small pool at our house and family and friends with larger pools that we like to visit. My kids LOVE to swim but when you add up the cost of disposable swim diapers, it can really add up!
Bambi & Boo Diapers Are So Cute, You Don’t Even Need to Buy a Swimsuit!
Another way you can save money with Bambi & Boo reusable swim diapers is that they are so cute, you don’t even need to buy a separate swimsuit. Sometimes we used the swim diaper on its own and other times with a swim shirt.
I chose this adorable whale pattern but there are so many great print options to choose from.
One Package, Two Sizes
There are two purchase options. You can order one diaper or a package with both sizes to save even more! The two-pack comes with 1 size S ( 0 – 9 Months ) & 1 size L ( 9 – 40 Months ).
There are plenty of snaps to help you get the perfect fit for your child.
My son Matthias who just turned 2 years old and is around 23 pounds is in the size L diaper with plenty of room to grow.
Bambi & Boo Reusable Swim Diapers Are Easy to Use
These swim diapers are easy to adjust to the perfect fit and are a breeze to put on, even when you’re wrestling with squirmy toddlers eager to get into the pool.
Bambi & Boo Reusable Swim Diapers WORK
The description says that these diapers are not designed to hold pee. While it might be true that some urine is going to leak out, I found that it actually did hold in some urine. I was pretty happy about that because, I mean, who wants pee in the pool?
It was very easy to release one side of the diaper outside of the pool and let the urine go somewhere more appropriate.
Because it is so well at holding in even some urine, it absolutely does a great job of holding in any kind of bowel movements as well!
Cleaning the Bambi & Boo Reusable Swim Diaper
As luck would have it, Matthias pooped the first time he used his swim diaper and lets just say, it was a pretty gross, messy diaper. I had concerns that it might never come clean.
I used cloth diapers with my kids for years so I was already pretty well aware of how to clean diapers like this. The first thing I did when we got home was to turn the diaper inside out so anything solid could plop into the toilet.
Then, because this was a particularly messy diaper, I sent it through a rinse cycle all by itself. Then I washed it with Tide. Normally Tide is enough to get cloth, reusable diapers clean but, as I mentioned, this was not your ordinary poopy diaper.
Do, I went to the next step. I soaked it in a sink of water with a small amount of bleach to make sure any smell was totally gone. Then I rinsed it again in the sink with plain water.
The only staining was along the leg seams. For that I rubbed on a little bit of my Bunch O Farmers stain stick (this stuff is amazing!). Then I tossed it in the wash with a regular load of the kids clothes.
The diaper came out perfectly clean and stink-free. It’s recommended to air dry these swim diapers so that’s what I did and within just a few hours it was ready to be used again!
Final Thoughts on the Bambi & Boo Reusable Swim Diapers
Cute diapers, saving money – I have no complaints and only good things to say about these diapers!
