This ‘Back To School Tips For 2020 – 2021 School Year’ post is sponsored by StickerYou. As always, all opinions are my own.
Wowzers, 2020 has been one crazy year! While I usually feel like time flies, I will be the first to admit that this year has been a little like the movie ‘Groundhog Day’. (PS> If you have never watched that movie, you should! It’s actually pretty funny.) What seemed to start off as a pretty typical year in January has become something I would never have dreamed. But overall, things seem to be moving in the right direction. Schools around us are opening up this month and all businesses are also currently up and running. So tell, me, are you ready?
Back To School Tips
While school is almost in session, most are looking like anything BUT ‘normal’. There have been many changes implemented this year and it’s been a transition for everyone. Teachers are having to adapt and change their classrooms, ways of teaching, and resources. Students are walking into a completely different experience. So we’ve teamed up with StickerYou.com to share some ‘Back To School Tips’ for this unusual school year.
Back To School Tips For 2020 – 2021 School Year
This year is anything but ordinary. Instead of the usual worries of what color notebooks to buy, the top thing on everyone’s mind is to keep our teachers and students safe. Safety is THE top priority! So we’ve teamed up with StickerYou to share some creative ideas and products to help create a healthy and thriving classroom for all.
Step #1: Develop New Habits
As the fall semester approaches, many are struggling with what this will actually mean when dealing with this virus. So take a deep breath and then take these tips into consideration.
Create A Backpack Readiness Kit
While I don’t know what it’s like for everyone, our local schools are not using lockers this year. So kids will be keeping their backpacks with them all day. One thing you can do is create a custom readiness backpack kit for each of your children. Inside, be sure to include:
- a note and special photo from YOU!
- mini bottle of lotion
- travel size bottle of hand sanitizer
- bandaids
- gloves
- spare face covering (important in case theirs gets wet or soiled and they want to change it out at school)
- disinfectant wipes
- cough drops
- disposable “pop” ice pack
Practice Refocussing With Your Kids
Many children suffer from anxiety. With all the changes this year, those anxieties may become more evident or extreme. So help your child refocus onto the things they are able to take personal responsibility for. While they can’t control this virus, they can:
-Wash Their Hands
-Exercise
-Drink Enough Water
-Take Vitamins
Ensure Your Child Brings A Clean And Full Water Bottle To School Each Day
Many public stores, businesses, and schools have closed their water fountains. So be sure to pack each child their Hydro Flask so they can stay hydrated. Drinking enough water is so important for all ages! (Check out these 11 Simple Hacks to help your family drink more water.)
With the help of StickerYou, you can create hydro flask stickers with your kids as a fun at-home activity before they head back to school! StickerYou makes it easy to create any custom sticker design or you can use the latest meme, social cause, or reflection. Each sticker is printed on high-quality removable vinyl that’s both durable and waterproof. Just stick it on any hydro flask water bottle and the kids will be ready to start showing off their style.
Look For Others Who May Be Struggling
This year may be the hardest your child has ever dealt with. But that also means that other children are struggling too. Give your child the mission of being a helper! Being the one who can brighten someone else’s day is huge. The sense of accomplishment and joy it gives the ‘helper’ is immense. Help your child discover that feeling!
“When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news,” Rogers said to his television neighbors, “my mother would say to me, ‘Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping. ‘” —Mr. Fred Rogers
Customize Your Child’s Face Mask
Since most schools are requiring all students and staff to be in a mask, there will be LOTS of masks around. Help empower your child by allowing them to customize their mask with fun designs. It’s easy to create your very own custom, high quality iron-on transfers in any shape and size with StickerYou. The transfers apply easily to cotton, polyester, spandex, denim, and many other fabrics. Not only will this help your child recognize their mask should they take it off and lay it down, it will also help them feel proud since they helped create it!
Step #2: Know That This Too Shall Pass
Nothing lasts forever. Know that one day, things will be back to normal and you are doing the best you can! You’ve got this!

A lot of great information here from the backpack to making custom mask. Our county was in the red when school was to start so our kids started on line. Monday they will start back to school and hopefully all will go well.

Our quilting group is making extra masks for our church school group. We are letting them decorate them so they will be more likely to wear them.
