These 2020 Baby Registry Must-Haves will make life with a baby easier than ever for you! As a mom of 5 (soon to be 6) I can tell you that I’ve tried a LOT of baby items over the years. As I prepare for our 6th baby this April, these are the products I’ve been busy acquiring to use with our newest little one.
2020 Baby Registry Must-Haves
If you're having a baby in 2020, this list of must-haves should be added to your registry. They will make life with baby easier and more enjoyable!
This stylish bassinet from Chicco is three products in one! It can be used as a height-adjustable bedside sleeper, portable bassinet and for extended-use, you can also use it as a changing station. The Chicco Close to You 3-in-1 Bedside Bassinet fits over beds and glides smoothly from room to room for convenient daytime use. Once positioned where a parent or caregiver wants it, the bassinet locks securely in place. The changing station accommodates children up to 35 lbs., extending use far beyond the standard bassinet.
The Chicco NextFit Sport Convertible Car Seat is a #1 rated car seat. Parents will love the easy installation and the user-friendly touchpoints simplify travel and everyday life, making it easier for families to go and grow together.
The NextFit Sport car seat accommodates infants and growing toddlers in rear-facing mode then transitions smoothly to forward-facing mode for older children. A nine-position headrest and padded, no-rethread harness comfortably accommodate growth throughout both modes.
The NextFit Sport is designed to deliver the confidence of a secure install with remarkably simple leveling and tightening. A SuperCinch force-multiplying tightener and LockSure belt-tightening system make it easy to achieve a tight fit with LATCH or with the vehicle seat belt. The NextFit Sport also transitions smoothly from vehicle to vehicle and between modes thanks to premium LATCH connectors with click-on attachment and push-button release, plus a built-in slide path to re-position the LATCH strap for forward-facing mode.
DuoGuard provides two layers of side-impact protection with a deep rigid shell and EPS energy-absorbing foam. The seat shell is also reinforced with a steel frame.
This car seat is for use from 12-40 lbs in rear-facing mode, from 22-65 lbs in forward-facing mode, and up to 49".
One of my must-have baby items this time around was a premium baby swaddle I could use for newborn photos. For that, I turned to Copper Pearl.
This particular pattern is called "Hunter" and I chose it because our new baby will have 3 older brothers who love to wear camo and play army men. This is the perfect swaddle to help him "fit in" with his brothers right away. I'm looking forward to snapping some photos of the new baby and his brothers all dressed in camo!
There are SO many adorable prints, patterns and solid color swaddles available from Copper Pearl, you are sure to find quite a few that you'll want!
This lightweight, stretchy, and modern knit swaddle blanket is made from the softest premium fabric and provides the perfect blankets to wrap up your little one. The blankets are just right for swaddling, as all-purpose receiving blankets, and as playmats--for when your child graduates to tummy time, independent sitting, and beyond.
Because of the blankets’ generous size, your baby is sure to continue treasuring them throughout the toddler years. All edges are serged to ensure high quality and long-lasting durability.
With its trendy and modern designs, this premium baby swaddle blanket set makes the perfect gift for new moms: one that will last for years as baby grows.
Of course, if you're getting the swaddle, you need to get one of these adorable top knot hats to match!
Copper Pearl's top knot hats are designed with baby’s comfort in mind. They feature ultra-soft, breathable fabric with just the right hint of stretch. An adjustable knot ensures the perfect fit from newborn to four months.
Some people are fine nursing in public without a cover, but I prefer to have one. I love the chic nursing covers from KeaBabies. Not only do they come in a number of great print options they are also really affordable!
You can also use these nursing covers as a car seat canopy, which is a great way to keep the sun off of baby when you're using your car seat as a travel system outside. You can even often stretch it to fit over stroller seats as well!
Having a quality baby carrier is a must-have for me with each baby. All of my babies want to be close to me almost all of the time and the only way I can get anything else accomplished is by babywearing.
I'm pretty excited about this new carrier from Infantino. It has 5 layering options for different seasons so that your baby will always be comfortable. It even has a cover to protect against rain, snow, and wind!
There are 4 ways to wear baby with this carrier, including Facing-in Infant Seat, Facing-in Widened Seat, Facing-out, and Back Carry. This carrier is suitable for babies 8-40 pounds!
I love that this seat offers so many ways to use it with a baby. The Discovery Booster Seat has three uses that will grow with your child from baby to toddler. It starts as a seated positioner with an electronic piano to keep baby engaged and entertained. The next stage is to use it as a seat for snacks (the toy tray separates to make room for snacks. The last stage is as a table booster seat with safety straps.
The toy attachment plays 20 different songs and sounds for baby to keep them entertained.
The Discovery Booster Seat has a washable & wipeable seat cushion for easy cleaning and comfort.
No more buying one teether at a time (because we all know our little ones are bound to lose at least one)! Safely soothe your little one’s gums with this set of fun-filled animal teethers from The Evolved Parent Co.
Brightly colored and easy to hold, these animal-shaped teethers offer relief for your little one, at home and on the go.
These teethers are made from BPA-free, soft food-grade silicone that is FDA-approved and gentle on your baby’s delicate gums, plus they are dishwasher safe!
An air purifier for the baby's room was one of the items I wanted to be sure I had this year. The flu season has been horrible this year. Our whole family has been sick off and on for what feels like 2 months now, plus we have the threat of the coronavirus right now. I'm taking every precaution to rid my home of unwanted germs before the baby gets here! This air purifier destroys allergens, mold, bacteria, viruses and airborne chemicals (VOCs).
Another reason I wanted an air purifier for the room is to help cut down on diaper smells. Although we have a diaper pail that helps tremendously, you can never have enough protection against stinky odors in the nursery!
I love the style of the Molekule Mini Air Purifier. It blends perfectly into my nursery decor.
There are different fan settings for the air purifier and as an added bonus, as the fan is turned up, it doubles as a sound machine which is a great way to help babies sleep better!
Use the special code 10MOLEKULE to save 10% through March 21st, 2020 when you purchase via Amazon.
Babies need a lovie and Bunnies by the Bay makes the cutest lovies I've ever seen! They are so soft and the perfect size for little hands. Even better, these loves include a velcro hand to hold a pacifier. How cool is that?! This little lovie is also machine washable for easy cleanings.
Since we have 5 children already, we have quite a few blankets already. However, I always like to get a special blanket just for that child. Just because you have older siblings doesn't mean you shouldn't still get a few things that are all your own.
Every little one needs a quilt blanket, and for that, I turned to Loulou Lollipop and their adorable muslin quilts. Made with ultra-soft fabric, this muslin quilt offers four layers of coziness to lull baby into relaxation mode. Plus it’s generously sized to grow with baby through the toddler years.
Every single one of my kids enjoys dinosaurs, so this Dinoland quilt seemed like the perfect blanket to get for our little guy.
Loulou Lollipop has SO many adorable quilts though, you are sure to find one you'll love!
Eventually, all babies start teething. And, when teething hits, you're going to need some good teethers!
Made of food-grade silicone, this taco teether features a nubby texture on both sides for ultimate teething relief, along with a bean-shaped cutout for easy grasping. And holy guacamole, it sure is cute!
You can attach anywhere with the included holder, which features colorful, food-grade silicone beads and a rust-resistant stainless steel clip.
Babies need lots of toys for teething! Handmade and safe for baby: the MAM Friends are an ideal first toy to help a child's development. Made of 100% natural rubber, their material is pleasantly soft to the touch. Their bright colors and different shapes help to develop baby's senses.
A bath brush and soap dispenser in one! Fill the Scrub-a-Dubdub with any liquid soap and squeeze your way to a squeaky-clean baby. Ditch those wet washcloths and fumbling with a slippery soap bottle for this simple one-step brush!
I tried Babo Botanicals for the first time with my last baby and I was hooked immediately! It's the BEST smelling baby shampoo I have ever tried and the diaper rash cream worked phenomenally too. This Newborn Essentials Gift Set is a must-have for new moms!
Babo Botanicals launched in 2010 by Kate Solomon who at the time was a pioneer in natural. She is a beekeeper and was an agricultural volunteer in the US Peace Corps. She took the best of natural and developed Babo. Before Babo, she was at L’Oreal working with chemicals to develop products and wanted change in personal products – particularly with children and sensitive skin.
Now Kate has gone beyond kids and has developed a range of non-toxic cosmetics and skincare for women with sensitive skin. Babo Botanicals products are designed for the most sensitive skin, from babies to adults and are 100% gluten, soy and dairy-free. Babo Botanicals retail partners include Amazon, Anthropologie, buybuyBABY,,The Detox Market, Follain, Goop, Grove Collaborative, Pharmaca, Target, Thrive Market, Ulta, Whole Foods Market, Wegmans and many more.
After carrying your little one for 9 months, a postpartum belly support recovery wrap is a great idea! Your body has just carried a miracle, it's time to get your body back in shape.
This Keababies 3-in-1 postpartum belt helps to tuck your stomach in, which helps to shrink your womb back to pre-pregnancy size, while supporting your other organs to realign back to pre-pregnancy state.
It offers 3 different stages to help your body gradually adjust back.
A good breastfeeding pillow is a must-have for me when I have a newborn. While I admit I tend to ditch my breastfeeding pillows after a month of so, during those first few weeks when baby is so small, they are a huge help in getting the proper latch without your arms getting too sore.
The Boppy Best Latch Breastfeeding Pillow has a unique design with two distinct surfaces - one firm for newborn latch success and one soft to meet your needs while your baby grows.
The pillow is also machine washable for easy cleanings - yay!
Having lots of great swaddle bags and sacks for my baby is a must for me. We do a lot of swaddling! The ergoPouch Cocoon Swaddle Bag is designed for newborns and babies, to contain their startle reflex while keeping them snug and securely swaddled throughout all seasons. The no-origami Cocoon Swaddle in organic fabric does away with complicated wrapping, a lifesaver for midnight feeds!
What's more, this swaddle features armholes that allow you to convert this baby swaddle into your baby’s first sleeping bag as soon as they start to show signs of rolling.
ergoPouch makes a variety of swaddle pouches with various TOG ratings so you can choose the one to best keep your newborn comfortable at your home's average temperature. I chose 1.0 TOG for our baby because the temperature in our home usually falls between 68-72 degrees.
I've tried a lot of shoes over the years and the pediped brand are some of the best! They have quality construction plus tons of adorable styles to choose from.
Maybe most importantly, pediped shoes are comfortable for little ones to wear. How do I know this? My toddler, although he has about 10 different pairs of shoes to choose from, consistently picks his pediped shoes to wear. He loves them and so do I!
When baby starts learning to use a cup, (for my babies I usually introduce them around 8-9 months) you need to have a great straw cup, and it doesn't get any better than the Silicone Toddler Straw Cups from GoSili.
This all silicone 12oz cup is 100% European grade silicone with an embedded stainless steel ring. It won’t collapse when gripped. The all silicone straw top and straw inserts for a tight fit and all parts are dishwasher and microwave safe.
This cover from Boppy can be used for so many things including as a car seat canopy, 360° coverage for nursing or pumping, shopping cart cover and baby carrier cover. This cover also works great as a restaurant high chair cover or as a fashionable infinity scarf.
This cover has been designed with soft, lightweight yoga-inspired fabric on one side for privacy and cooling mesh fabric on the other side to keep baby cool in warmer weather.
Babies will have so much fun with this realistic keyset, with fun activities that are ideal for promoting fine and gross motor skill development. Press the buttons to activate lights, music, and real car sounds! Shake the toy to hear clacking & rattling keys. Easy to hold handle is perfect for little hands.
This toy features a variety of materials and textures to promote sensory development including a crinkle fox charm and a BPA-free feather teether.
Make sure you register for a few items for the future. The rim spout trainer sippy cup is the perfect starter sippy cup for toddlers. It has a narrow-edge, bite-proof spout, and a unique ergonomic design that encourages proper lip positioning for easy drinking.
It is a no-spill sippy cup with sip activated flow for spill-free drinking, or parents can remove the valve so their child can practice free-flow drinking.
Best of all, it is easy to keep clean! The simple snap-on cap keeps the spout clean when not in use and it features minimal parts that are dishwasher safe and easy to assemble.
The Chicco PhysioForma pacifier is made of 100% soft silicone. It is a one-piece pacifier making is a super safe option for any age baby. It comes in three different sizes for babies 0-6 months, 6-16 months, and 16+ months as well as multiple color options.
Pacifiers can be a baby's best friend, so it is best to register for more than one. We keep one everywhere like the baby's crib, diaper bag, nightstand, mom's pocket, purse, and even in the car.
This pacifier has been clinically developed, tested, and approved in partnership with an advisory panel of leading neonatologists, pediatricians, and orthodontists. The lateral curve of the nipple evenly distributes the tongue’s pressure against the palate to actively support the baby’s breathing.
Lots of people ask me where the best place is to make a baby registry. Personally, I’ve always made a Target Baby Registry. It’s easy to use, you get a free Target baby registry gift bag (with lots of cool goodies), plus they send you a 15% off coupon to use towards buying anything that others don’t purchase for you from your registry. Even if I’m not having a shower, I make the registry for that coupon! It’s a great way to save some money on diapers and the other little things I want for our baby.
Another great place to register is at Amazon. They also offer a free gift and have a great selection. I also find that when having a shower it can be helpful to give guests different options on where to shop.
I love the ergonomic carrier. Looks so handy and versatile for moms and dads too.
