With a new baby in our house, I’m on the hunt for the latest and greatest baby products coming out. Today I’m thrilled to introduce you to 4 new baby items I’ve fallen in love with from Summer Infant, Kiddopotamus, and Born Free.
I’ve had my fair share of activity seats over the years. The problem is that they are huge and such a pain to store. I talk all the time about our cramped living space and storing one of those things has never been a good option. I end up finding a new home for the toy once my child has outgrown it because I just can’t store it, then when the next baby comes along, I have to buy a new one. When I saw Summer Infant’s Pop ‘N Jump, I knew it was the perfect seat for Gideon!
The Pop ‘N Jump is a new portable, light-weight entertainer for babies. It comes fully assembled and unfolds in just seconds. Because it is collapsible, it is easy to store (thank you Summer Infant!!) and easy to take with you on the go. Since it has a UV cover, it’s great to use outside. You can take it on vacation for camping, the beach, pool trips and more.
Gideon isn’t quite old enough to use this seat yet, but it will be perfect for him as we head into Summer. It has a spinner ball, rattle, tether and picture book included that I know he’ll enjoy playing with. I’m so happy we’ll be able to take it with us wherever we go and even happier that when he’s outgrown it I can easily store it in our basement until the next little one comes along.
I remember the days when I only had one child. I could rock Maggie to sleep and then lay her in a Moses basket right next to me while I folded laundry and started dinner. These days, laying Gideon down for a nap in a quiet corner of the house is a must. With 3 older siblings who are constantly playing, it’s hard for him to get a good nap otherwise.
Having a monitor for Gideon is a must. Summer Infant now offers the ONLY audio monitor that is wearable. While I own a video monitor and love it, I often find myself trying to get chores done while the baby is sleeping. First I’m in the kitchen loading the dishwasher, then down in the basement grabbing food from the deep freezer, then outside in the backyard cleaning up toys, then back to the kitchen to put lunch in the oven, etc. (can anyone else relate?!). With the Babble Band, I can put the monitor on my wrist and not worry about having to carry a monitor around with me as I go. It’s always on my wrist and I can hear if he starts to cry.
The Babble Band is soft, adjustable, and has a range up to 800 feet. It has alarms to let you know if you’re going out of range or if your battery is low. It also offers a vibration mode, designed to alert you not via sound but by the band vibrating on your wrist. This would be helpful for parents who have a hearing impairment or if you have another child sleeping and don’t want the noise to wake them. Even better, it’s super affordable at a suggested price of $59.99 but often much cheaper through Amazon.
Born Free Breeze Bottles
I’m blessed to be able to breastfeed my babies. When Zellene was a newborn I waited too long to give her a bottle and then she refused…..absolutely refused, and we tried a number of times. I swore that with Gideon I’d give him a bottle once a week starting around 3 weeks……..and then I didn’t. Life happens and it happens faster with each baby. Before I knew it Gideon was 9 weeks and still hadn’t been given a bottle. So, on my recent press trip to Ohio (I took Gideon with me), I let someone try to give him his first bottle. It was an absolute failure. He refused it.
When we got home, I decided I’d try it again with a different bottle – the Born Free Breeze Bottles to be exact. I sat down with Gideon and offered him the bottle….and he took it! I was SO happy! He sucked down his bottle so well. Success!!
The Born Free Breeze Bottles are available in BPA-free plastic or glass, in sizes 5oz and 9oz. One of the things I noticed right away is just how flexible the nipple portion of the bottle is. It’s much softer than other nipples we’ve used in the past (like the bottle Gideon refused a few days prior). Because it was so soft it tended to suck in more on the sides than the tougher nipples I’ve used in the past but it didn’t seem to bother Gideon. In fact, I think the softness is a big factor in him being willing to accept it.
When your baby is finished drinking, cleanup is a breeze (see what I did there?!) because it’s literally only 2 pieces — the whole thing! I love that! We’d don’t use bottles all the time, but I’m grateful that we’ll have these bottles from Born Free so my husband and I can get away for a date night!
I’ve gotta start by saying just how absolutely adorable this bouncer is! All of my kids were excited when I pulled it out of the box. Its bright colors and animal theme are so much fun!
It took me about 10 minutes to assemble the bouncer and it was really quite easy. You’ll need to be sure you have a screwdriver handy for the job and 3 AA batteries. The panda insert is so soft and perfect for a newborn. Gideon seems very comfortable resting his head on it. The seat also has a two position recline and a 3 point harness to keep your baby safe. The toy bar snaps into place but removes easily with a slight tug (my 21 month old can remove it). It comes with two puppets that can be attached to the bar or removed so the parents (or older siblings) can use them to interact with the child. The 3 AA batteries allow you to play music, sounds or turn a seat vibrator on for your little ones.
Gideon LOVES this seat. It allows him to be at just the right height and angle to watch all of the action going on around him in our house. My older kids and I love interacting with him using the puppets. It’s been so cute to watch them talk to him using them. His little face just lights up! I’m excited that even after he’s outgrown the bouncer, we can continue to use the puppets. We don’t use the melodies or sounds on this seat often, but Gideon does seem to really enjoy the vibrations. I carry this bouncer all over the house for him and highly recommend it if you’re in the market. At last check, it was on a fabulous sale at Amazon.
I’m loving these items, not just because they work great and Gideon loves them, but also because they are all so affordable! Raising children can be expensive, but with a bit of research you can find great products and great companies, like Summer Infant, who product quality items without breaking the bank. Look for all of these items online and at your favorite baby retailers.
