If you have kids, you probably already realize how fast they grow up. Our little rainbow baby Ruby is already 16 months old! (Do you remember when we made our announcement back in 2021!?) Time sure has flown.
This summer, I’ve made it my mission to make memories. After recently losing a cousin in April of this year, who I was very close to, I’ve really become more aware of the fact that tomorrow just isn’t guaranteed. So this year, I bought season passes to a local zoo as well as a theme park. Those, along with the 7 game baseball pass we purchase every year will ensure we will get out together and make some beautiful memories.
A Day At The Zoo
I’ll warn you now that this post will be heavy on the photos. Because another thing I learned from my cousin is that you should ALWAYS take the picture. She was the one who always remembered to document celebrations, events, and even just regular days through her photography and I’m striving to start doing the same.
This was actually our 3rd visit to the zoo this year and we’re enjoying it to the fullest. Today was the first day the birds were out (Minnesota problems…. the weather was still pretty chilly some days up until about a week ago!). Ruby didn’t seem to mind the parakeets from a distance but wasn’t too thrilled when they got into her space.
It was funny watching as she knew SOMETHING was on her head but couldn’t quite figure out what. She kept reaching and finally was able to shoo the bird off. After that, she decided sitting on the ground next to Sam was a safer option than walking around on her own.
The Koi Fish area near the Rhinos was also pretty neat. We actually hung out here for quite awhile as the fish would follow us around the tank, hoping to get fed so they were pretty entertaining.
One of the rhinos was inside while the other was out. We stopped near a bench to watch the one that was playing outdoors. It was so neat to see some of these majestic animals so close and Ruby loved pointing things out to us.
Even though it was nearing 3 o’clock in the afternoon and we hadn’t had a nap all day, Ruby was a trooper. She even walked for a good portion of the day.
Of course, no zoo trip would be complete without a stop at the playground. I should have grabbed a pic of this play set in its entirety as it’s AMAZING and all four of our younger kids (12 and under) love it!
Overall, we had a great day and had loads of fun. We met some new animals, played with some new friends on the playground, and made it home in time for supper!
Kyte Baby
If you are new to Kyte Baby, listen up! This brand is super popular and for good reason. Their buttery soft bamboo clothes, pajamas, and accessories are unbeatable. Ruby’s very first pair of newborn pajamas were from Kyte Baby and we’ve been fans ever since.
We spent the entire day in Kyte Baby’s soft pieces and they are definitely worth the investment.
For the nicer weather months, the Twirl Body Suit offers a sweet twist to the classic bodysuit. Designed with a twirl skit and the bamboo softness we all know and love from Kyte Baby, this outfit is a great choice for a hot summer day. Adorable, functional, and comfortable all in one!
When bedtime tolls around, the Core Collection Short Sleeve Pajamas are so soft, simple, and comfy that I wish they came in my size! Summertime heat can make sleep uncomfortable for everyone, including the little ones in the family. This pajama set features a short sleeve top and shorts; both crafted from bamboo rayon. The soft, lightweight fabric is sure to keep your toddler comfortable and cool all night long.
Along with some great clothing and pajama options, Kyte Baby’s best-loved sleep bags are wearable blankets that help babies sleep through the night, safely. They’ve been designed to be sleep safe, diaper change friendly, and temperature-regulating — of course, they’re also made with buttery-soft bamboo. The sleep bag walkers also feature ankle cuffs to keep the warmth in while also allowing for safe mobility for little ones always on the move. Available in four sizes and three different weights, Kyte Baby’s sleep bags come in a variety of colors and prints. The 0.5 TOG weight is perfect for spring!

We live nearby a zoo, and I used to take my daughters once a week when they were little for storytime. I really miss those days. It looks like Ruby had a great day. The photo of the parakeet on her head is adorable.
