If you were growing up in a Christian home in the 90’s (like me), there’s a good chance you’ll know what all of these things are! I hope you like my list of 15 things only Christian kids from the 90’s will remember.
WWJD Bracelet
We all had them – we all wore them. Some of us had a few in various colors! I know I had one and wore it proudly!
FROG Bracelet
These bracelets were lesser known than the WWJD ones – did you have one? I did! The one above says, “fully rely on God” but I remember it as “forever rely on God”. Maybe there were two versions?
MgGee & Me
My mom listened to Focus on the Family (did yours?), so when they came out with these movies in 1989, it wasn’t long before we were watching them in our home and church.
They are now available in 3 movie sets on DVD. I actually currently own the last 2 DVDs in the set and my kids enjoy watching them sometimes.
At one point they even made a board game, Sticky Situations, which we also owned. It was a lot of fun. Did you ever play it or watch this show?
VeggieTales
Broccoli, celery, gotta be…..VeggieTales! This show debuted in 1993 and quickly became a favorite cartoon among Christian families.
The first movie we owned was The Toy That Saved Christmas, followed by my favorite, King George and the Ducky!
Adventures in Odyssey
We’d crowd around the radio just to catch the newest episode of this Focus on the Family classic at my best friend’s house! You never knew what would be happening at Whits End!
This program is still being made and my kids enjoy listening to it.
Left Behind
Left Behind made the book of Revelations come alive. There were a total of 16 novels created for this, which have since been turned into movies (the most recent adaptation starred Nicolas Cage) and also adapted into novels for teens.
I read quite a few of the teen books myself.
Bible Adventures for Nintendo
If you owned a Nintendo, the Bible Adventures game was a must-have! There were fun levels about Noah’s Ark, David and Goliath, and Moses. That game was tough – I don’t think I ever beat it.
Heaven’s Gates & Hell’s Flames
The first time I ever talked to my now husband was when we were teenagers and in this play together, so it’s pretty nostalgic to me.
The people behind this production roll in 3 days before it starts, transform your sanctuary into an extremely sparkly room, and then members of the church come together to perform for 3 days. I fell in love with the song, Via Dolorosa from this production.
Touched by an Angel
There weren’t many programs on television that my mom approved of, but this was one of them. It was such a feel-good, happy show that always ended with the angels helping someone.
There was also a spinoff show called, “Promised Land” that I loved to watch as well.
Psalty the Signing Songbook
Psalty is a songbook…not just any songbook, he’s a KIDS’ songbook.
He travels all around the world telling kids about how much God loves them! He has been creating Christian Children’s music since 1980.
I really loved Psalty when I was a kid. I have a few Psalty DVDs I let my kids watch now and they enjoy it too.
WeeSing
WeeSing produced movies and cassette tapes, including a special collection of 63 Bible and Sunday school songs.
This has all the old classics like “Zaccheaus” “Father Abraham,” and more. I can still quote all of the books of the Bible, in order, thanks to the WeeSing songs that taught them. I taught my children that way as well.
WeeSing also has quite a few movies (now available on DVD) and my toddlers and preschoolers just love them!
Feature Films for Families
My mom loved getting Feature Films for Families for our family. Did you watch any of their classics, like The Buttercream Gang, Rigoletto, Caddie Woodlong, No More Baths, and so many more.
My favorite was Rigoletto. We watched that movie many times! These movies are available to watch online now.
Brio Girl Magazine
If you were a girl who received the Brio magazine, I’m sorry to tell you that it’s no longer producing new editions. **tears**
I looked forward to my magazine arriving every month!
Human Videos
Did you participate in making human videos in your youth group? I was always quite horrible at that, but that didn’t stop me from joining the group for Fine Arts competition each year.
This video is not of me and my youth group (thank goodness because it would most likely be quite embarrassing).
WOW Cassettes and CDs
Christian music was dominated by DC Talk, Michael W. Smith, Newsboys, Audio Adrenaline, among other great artists. If you purchased a WOW CD for the year, you got all of the best hits in one place!
Which album was your favorite? I owned WOW 1999 and listened to that CD over and over again.
Did I miss any 90’s Christian icons? Tell me below!

Well this is a long shot 😂 But my family and I are driving ourselves crazy trying to remember the name of a Christian kids show/movie that I believe would’ve been made in the 90s. We think the backgrounds were animated but the kids were real. They were racing on exercise balls toward the edge of a cliff 🫣😂 I remember a girl with dark hair saying…”I’m winning…I’m winning…I’m NOT winning!” If anyone understands this reference I will be shocked but I am desperate lol!
